The last Blue Moon of 2009
« on: December 31, 2009, 06:48:18 AM »
Just snapped a shot of this years last moon rise. Taken at 5:30PM local (10:30 UT) and I hope to awake and be ready in 9 more hours to see if there is an eclipse to catch.

Great shot!  (a little photoshop would make it blue!)

You are taking pictures of the moon rise and I just got out of bed.

Happy New Year!

The same moon 13 hrs. later, setting in the west,  now without it's "Blue" status. First moon set of 2010.

Nice touch Dan, nice touch indeed!!  By the way, what does it say on the building shown on the Moonrise picture?  Just curious.

It's the name of that condominium with it's phone number. I asked the wife the same thing. She told me the name in Thai but don't ask me what it was. That was more than 5 minutes ago. #-o

(no mention of any last posters though, that I would remember)

Yep same here!
I noticed my console was displaying Lunar Eclipse but I knew as long as it was cloudy it would happen and I'd never know the difference LOL!

:-) Nice shot, Dan.  Nice indeed.
So interesting to see views from the other side of the planet.

That concrete/rebar vapor barrier is interesting, too.

Have fun!

Thanks Henry. Yeah, I was too lazy to walk down the street to take the picture from the other side of the new church foundation  so I shot the pic from the side yard instead.

Thank you Upweather. This is the nicer time of year to be here as far as temperatures go. Middle 80's/29 during the day and upper 50's/13 at night with clear skies. Not exactly what you would want for exciting weather activity but it's sure comfortable. :-)

Wow, they sure pack a lot of info in just a few letters.  I think it's going to be a long, long time before we know the winner of that one. ](*,) ](*,)

Nice to see those pics from your view Dan  :-) I took some pics of the moon that same evening, it is i bit further away from us here i think, i had a focal length at 200mm when i took these of the moon
this was taken just before 8pm when it was cloudy and the moon suddenly showed up in that opening.
This second one was taken about 10.30pm (all times local, GMT+1) then the sky was all blue/"black"  ;)

Thanks for those pics TorH. We're supposed to have a solar eclipse pass through Jan.15th. I don't want to miss that. 8-)

Make sure you get us some good photos of that Dan.  Remember to stare at it as long as possible to see all the pretty colors.

Dan

I was interested in the above reply to Wayne. Where would I find the eclipse dates in the Davis software?
