Heavy Weather / WS-2310 problems

My weather station appears to be working fine to the base, but I can no longer get data from the base to the computer using the rj11 to serial cable.  This probably has been covered before, but is it a cable problem?  A heavy weather problem?  help! my neighborhood depends on me :)

Did you double check the RS-232 and RJ-11 connections?

Others have reported that the RJ-11 connection at the console can become loose.

The only time that has happened to me is when lightning fried the console's ability to talk to the PC. I had to replace the console.
