HDD Partition software
« on: December 08, 2024, 03:13:08 PM »
Hello All,
My 3Tb data HDD failed Friday, but got it going again. New 4Tb drive arrived today.
Looking for a partition program that will allow me to create multiple partitions, THEN commit to saving all at once?

Was here earlier, but not sure what ones do that type of operation.
Any suggestion would be great. [tup]
Thanks.

Hi
If you are running windows then you can format and make partitions within windows, and use them just like additional drive.
I have a main drive in the weather station PC and then 2 other drives one is used for storage and one for all the daily backup's that I make automatically

Maybe something like Casper which will quite easily clone a HDD to the same or larger disk size.

Are you looking clone your drive over transferring data?  Or just partition the new drive and copy/paste the data over?

Of just partitioning, I'd recommend Partition Wizard.  They have a free version.  I've used it plenty of times.

Hello All,

I will be going from a 3Tb to a 4Tb drive. I have a Music partition, a Movie_Tv Partition and a Data_Archive partition..
I really need to increase the movie partition(running out of space) and increase the music partition just a bit more.
Data is partition fine.

I've used windows before many times. But I can never get the sizes just the way I wanted to. Accounting for overhead.
You can configure only one partition at a time.
I was wanting to use one that that would, in this case, would configure 3 of 4 partitions, tweak the numbers, then hit enter to commit to all partitions at once. Done.

I just noticed that my link to lifewire.com was deleted  Why? Had a list of partition programs I was referencing to, "10 Best Free Disk Partition Software Tools of 2024". It's a legit web site!

Soooooo....anyways.....I'm looking for a partition tool that will do as I stated.

Thanks for any help, doing this soon today.

To Mods...why delete the link?

Depending on what you are doing, you may not be able to do everything in one re-size task.  I think PM would require you to first shrink one of the partitions, then Apply.  Then increase the other partitions and apply.

With a secondary non-boot drive, you should be able to do that without rebooting.

I do not think it would be a wise idea to clone a failing HDD.
As of now, this drive is clunking badly.

Hi All,
Drive is up and running.
Have Acronis add disc, refused to set right size, bailed.
Tried Windows, wants me to convert TB to Mb um no!
Installed EaseUS Partition Master Free Edition, got every thing set up in que, want's money for free version...no.
Installed MiniTool Partition Wizard Free, BINGO [tup]. Did exactly what I wanted to do.
Set up your partitions, each one goes into que, when done, hit execute, DONE.
Had 1 ad,clicked "dont show again", that was all.

So for any one that is looking for a partition tool that works like this, try it. I'd put a link, but it will probably get deleted!
Thanks again.
