Nothing better than a nice bit of anticipation.. 8-)  Hope my new station turns up early too.  I have taken the old one off the roof already.  It had stopped transmitting (yet again) and the aerometer was seized (again!)  I only replaced the bearings a year or so ago. I have flung it in a dark corner of the garage in disgust.

I'm replacing a 15 year old Davis VP1 which has only started to fail in the past few months but another Davis station is out of my price bracket as I'm retired (or retarded as my eldest son suggests  ).

Haha.   In that case I'm retarded too!   Next time he says that, say 'I very much resemble that remark' \:D/

I think a Davis probably would have stood up to the wind better/longer here in the Wild West (of England!) but- Ouch!

Well it arrived today - a day earlier than originally promised  What surprised me was the physical size of the gateway - it's tiny, you just dont get that impression from the pictures on the web  8-)

Now to get some lithium batteries and test it all prior to putting it up.

Mine is working perfectly well on ordinary batteries whilst I'm waiting for the lithium ones.

If you had had a look into our post https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=40970.0, you could have sensed the size (looking at the size of a male USB plug).  #-o ;)
The post is sitting right on top of the board. The GW1000 is of (classical) matchbox size.

Well I now have this all set up and updating both my PWT running on an old Acer tablet and WD puling the data using the api. Now to see how it beds down. I have my lightning sensor set to medium sensitivity at present with no spurious strike so will try tomorrow with it at max ans see what happens. I have the GW1000 installed in my lounge/dining room so the indoor temp/hum is OK where it is. I may decide to get another temp sensor for outside where I can place it away from direct sunlight for most of the day for comparison and maybe another indoor one as well, I'll see how it goes.

Nothing so far, I believe weather station equipment is zero rated for duty but VAT is still possible.

Hope it turns up soon Stuart.  As an incipient recipient too,  I must say I'm nervous about some aspects of this purchase.  I just don't feel comfortable ordering fairly expensive stuff with an apparently open-ended price.

Mine arrived just over two weeks ago and no email or postal requests for additional payments so far.  Maybe I'm tempting fate saying that....
