Ecowitt, Froggit, Misol or Sainlogic in UK?
« on: September 07, 2020, 09:17:04 AM »
Hi,

I am considering buying some of the following from Froggit as I am based in UK:

1 x WH3000 / HP1000SE PRO - Y-Design Outdoor Unit (868Mhz)
1 x DP1500 Wi-Fi Weather Server USB Dongle
Additional sensors like the lightning one, PM 2.5 and similar ones.

My main question is the above enough or should I get an HP1000SE PRO display unit in addition. I mainly plan to feed the data to a WeeWX Raspberry Pi server.

Is Froggit a good alternative if the extended wait times for Ecowitt equipment are too long? Are there any compatibility issues between Froggit and Ecowitt hardware and is flashing the first one with updates for the second one possible?

I understand that Ecowitt as the primary manufacturer/distributor has the largest and best range but is sadly not present in Europe, requiring additional shipping costs, taxes and shipping delays.
Froggit, on the other hand, is German and can ship in 72 hours or so, but their range isn't yet complete?
Misol can be seen on Amazon and eBay but shipping is probably as slow as Ecowitt's?
The smaller manufacturers like Sainlogic have just a few items.

Apologies for my rambling ideas.

Thanks in advance

Welcome..

Your summary is largely sound.
I am not sure why you would want an extra display but if you do want one then get the HP1000SE (HP2550/1 console)
The WH3000 (WH2910) is pretty basic and not as expandable as the HP2551 in terms of what sensors it supports and displays

You will definitely want the GW1000 (Froggit DP1500) if you are looking to use Weewx on a raspPi
If you have a GW1000 then if you have an old Android tablet then you could repurpose it with PWT and display that with your data (its very good and not an expensive app)

In terms of shipping versus support its your call but the Froggit kit is all interswappable with the master brand of Ecowitt as long as you stick to 868Mhz and this includes firmware.

Hi Apjapj,
I bought the Sainlogic 7 in 1 PWS in the UK and from pictures I have seen of the Froggit one, they are one and the same machine. The oustation is  the same design and even the display is identical!

What need i more to send my data to my own website(wordpress)WU and WOW?

The console will sent realtime data to WU, WoW and WeatherCloud.
It can also sent realtime data to one  other script, or use the FOSHKplugin if you need to upload to more locations.

Be aware that there are no high-low data in the uploads.
So either use a decent weather-program (WD, Meteobridge, Weewx) to generate high-lows /day/month/year a.s.o.
or use my PWS_Dashboard which can do that also.

There are a lot of other weather-website templates and scripts also.
Important is that you define what you want in your own website. Are you proficient and will you build your own website?
Or do you plan to use a template?

Normally the templates are plain PHP/HTML/CSS scripts and do not need wordpress at all.
