battery level indicator - difference GW1000 <--> HP2551?
« on: August 04, 2020, 10:09:22 AM »
Hi!

Is the behavior of the battery level display between GW1000 and e.g. the HP2551C different?

From the GW1000 I know that the WH57 outputs the battery level in Ecowitt-format with 0..5, where 5 means full and 0 means empty.
Now I have a user with a new WH57, whose HP2551C reports the level as 0, although new batteries are in it.
So my battery warning mechanism fails of course - FOSHKplugin warns if the level is less than 2.

Could the HP2551 send a 0 if everything is ok and a 1 if the battery level is critical? So exactly how the GW1000 it does with the WH65?
So do I have to differentiate between the sending device?
That would be unpleasant ...
Does anyone have any experience?

Regards, Oliver

Different devices report their battery status differently :( Some 0-5, some 0-1, some as a voltage!

I know this behavior from the sensors.  I am only surprised that the weather stations behave differently.  Because the sensors always output the same data - regardless of the receiver.

Lucy told me today that this behavior is not wanted but is a firmware bug that will be fixed by an update.

For all developers who use the custom server in the Ecowitt protocol as a basis: currently GW1000 and HP2551 deliver different battery levels with the same sensors. The reason for this is a firmware bug in the HP2551C.

Hi!

Problem solved with firmware v1.6.7 for HP2551C - battery levels are shown on HP2551C as on GW1000.
