I'm not sure,  but starting to wonder if the ObserverIp for these is not interchangeable.  #-o  I saw on amazon in the questions for the 800 that you cannot upgrade the 800 module to the 900 sensors,  and in the questions for the 900 you cannot add solar radiation.  That you'd have to get the 1400.

Also in the manual for the 900 the module says the LED Flashes when on one senor is connected and is solid lit for 2 sensors (the outside temp and the outside array).

The reason I ask, I was going to build a radiation shield for my 1400 ... but why not buy a 900 ... and using the 900 ObserverIP module and out door temp sensor ... then I could simply mount my temp sensor in the shade away from my roof and apart from my Array.  Problem solved.   \:D/

But I am not sure if the ObserverIP that comes with say the 800 ... or the 900 (which both have an outside temp module that could be mounted in the shade) ... will even connect with the 1400 array.  According to the manuals,  the 900 might,  but not sure if the 900 ObserverIP will "see" and connect to the 1400 array.   #-o

This would be an excellent solution to the solar radiation shield of the 1400 multi sensor array if it worked.  Just buy a 1400 array and an 800 or 900 system .... solar radiation temp spikes solved.

So my question ... will the 800 or 900 ObserverIP work with the 1400 array?  Either one (the 800 or 900) would give you the alternate location outside temp mount option.

Here on AW's site they sell the ObserverIP separately and list that it will work with everything.

Originally there was separate firmware for each model for the ObserverIP.  However the latest version of ObserverIP firmware lists ALL the Ambient weather stations that can connect to it.

WS-0800
WS-0900
WS-1200
WS-1400
WS-1600

http://www.ambientweather.com/wswsfiup.html

WS-0800-IP, WS-0900-IP, WS-1200-IP, WS-1400-IP ObserverIP Firmware Updates:
Version 4.1.4

    Notes:
Download the latest IPTools. The latest version improves upgrade stability.
Press the reset button after the upgrade.
Re-enter the Station Type (WS-0800-IP, WS-0900-IP, WS-1200-IP, WS-1400-IP) on the Station Settings panel.
Re-enter time zone from the Station Settings panel.
Re-enter the Wunderground server settings from the Weather Network panel.

Ed from Ambient Weather would be able to confirm the new changes since people are using multiple stations at the same site which I was told was the reason for the new firmware to alleviate the syncing of sensors and arrays.

Wow that would be cool and make a great all-n-one weather array even better with alternate location temp and humidity.  A person could actually purchase a WH32e outdoor temp sensor (if you could find one).

I did write AW a few minutes ago.

The only thing is if the firmware is locked to certain sensor types.  Here are screenshots of the config from the ws-1200 and ws-0900 which may help.

Oh ... i see. Yes I think that answers that. So it appears you could NOT use the 0800s outside temp / humidity while using the 1400s Array at the ObserverIP "locks" in on the system you are trying to connect to it.   Bummer.   ;) I was about to order an 800,  but I may still order the 800 so  I would have the parts (ie. the actual sensors sensors inside the units)

Before you buy for spares, have a look at this post

Looks like they went the digital sensor way.
