New webhost, cannot log in
« on: March 21, 2017, 09:42:17 PM »
I didn't want to  hijack Farmtalk's thread https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=31522.0. I cannot setup my location properly in GRLevel3 publishing. I did some research, trying different formats, then I read through Farmtalk's thread and tried each suggestion but still cannot log in. My ftp server is beamsvillewx.ca, my login (for GRLevel3) is weather-radar@beamsvillewx.ca, and the path to my directory is /home/weathegirl70/public_html/maps. Any help would be appreciated.

I use:    ftp://user:password@xxx.xxx.xxx.x/public_html/GR3   where my images go in GR3 folder and x's are the server ip address. Passive box will be checked.
maybe   ftp://user:password@xxx.xxx.xxx.x/public_html/maps  in your case??

Hi Ann-Marie,

I remember helping a friend figure this out for his GR3. I about pulled my hair out over it, too.

Try:  ftp://user:password@beamsville.ca /home/weathegirl70/public_html/maps  or

ftp://user:password@xxx.xxx.xxx.x/home/weathegirl70/public_html/maps

It is some combination of that, I'm sure. Just a matter of finding the right combination.

The 12014 error is ERROR_INTERNET_INCORRECT_PASSWORD
The request to connect and log on to an FTP server could
not be completed because the supplied password is
               incorrect.

The syntax is likely as Doug suggested ftp://weather-radar:<password>@beamsvillewx.ca/public_html/maps

You can verify the FTP works by using the command line:

ftp beamsvillewx.ca
Userid: weather-radar
Password: <password>

cd public_html/maps
ls
exit

Hi Ken:
This is what I get when I run a command line:

Code: [Select]
C:\>ftp beamsvillewx.ca
Connected to beamsvillewx.ca.
220---------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd [privsep] [TLS] ----------
220-You are user number 10 of 500 allowed.
220-Local time is now 16:42. Server port: 21.
220-This is a private system - No anonymous login
220 You will be disconnected after 15 minutes of inactivity.
200 OK, UTF-8 enabled
User (beamsvillewx.ca:(none)): Userid: weather-radar
331 User Userid: weather-radar OK. Password required

ftp>
ftp> cd public_html/maps
530 You aren't logged in
ftp> ls
530 You aren't logged in

ftp> exi

John, I'll try your suggestion as soon as I get this password problem fixed. I know there are no strange characters in my password, just letters.

So I changed the password back to my old password using my cpanel. It's all small letters only, then I tried your suggested locations but I am still getting the 12014 error. I don't understand why GRLevel3 is looking for a password when I've set it up already.

Use the command line test with the new password.  the 12014 error means 'incorrect password' so the login fails.

Once you have a successful command line login, then you can give the less-forgiving GRLevel3 ftp spec a try.

Also, you may be having issues with FTP like this thread which happened today.

So the problem continues.  I know I'm using the correct password but the GRLevel3 ftp says it still needs the password. So my next question would be, if I loaded the images into a folder on my computer, what would be the best way to upload them to my site?

Let's talk via email, Ann-Marie.  Your GoDaddy account should still allow FTP access and not require SFTP (which isn't supported by GRLevel3).  I do have a couple of options for you.
