I kinda missed posting here last week due to family issues. We had a heat wave here last week, and on Tuesday Sept 27th, San Luis Obispo was the hot spot in the nation at... 108F

WOW, and I thought 91 was real hot here on Wednesday.  It came a stormy downpour here this morning and got a bit over two inches of rain.  But that was far from the heaviest.  A location in a county to the north of me got nearly 7 inches.  So a flood watch is now out for 5 northern Oklahoma counties, including my own until 10pm Thursday.  Fortunately, the outlook map has strongest storms in eastern Kansas and a little to the northeast of there:

Awesome time lapse! Looks like that snow started when it was about 33 degrees out... So you know it was definitely heavy since it stuck.

Yes it was above freezing at the beginning. This is actually my first wet snow I can recall going into 3rd winter.
Usually its colder than heck and powder. This will be melted by noon most likely with 70's forecast later next week.

Can't relate to having snow in Oklahoma in October.  Instead, we're more likely to have at or near record breaking highs in the low 90s on Sun. and Mon.

I'm not seeing a lot of color here yet.  I've seen a lot of leaves go from green to brown to down though for some reason this year.

Perhaps because of drought? I thought I was gonna have that problem in my neck of the woods, but at least the mountains turned out alright.

And those are great photos Ryan.  8-)

For those that get Hummingbirds in the Summer, did you notice if they left early this year?  I think mine left about 2 weeks early.  Have no idea what (if anything) that might mean.

Mine left quickly. Not sure if it had to do with all of the heavy rain/flooding, but they did leave early this year.

56 here Monday morning. I know that's not cold to you guys but it felt dam good after a hot summer.
Of course that first front usually spells the end of the rainy season.
Pretty much just Chamber of Commerce weather here for the next 6 months.
Yuck.

56 here as of 11pm Wed. night after the 2nd strong front of the fall season.   The first strong cold front here tends to signal the the start of the secondary rainy season of the year, the fall.  3.01" so far here for October.

That would be far too freaky cold in north central Oklahoma for this time of year.  People would be wondering if it's really global cooling that we're worried about.  I don't ever intend to, but it would be  something I'd have to try to  get used to if I moved to Colorado Springs.

Cool night last night 17 degrees. as of noon we were at 25 now at 41.   NWS says  we are going on 3 weeks late for snow. Latest first snow for fairbanks is Oct 30 set in 1918. Must of had  global warming back then.  Starting this week end  temps expecet to drop as cold air slides west from Canada and impacts the Alaskan interior.
