In Gauges block...you forgot a CBI gauge ;)

.... always dissatisfied Carl :D :D :D

OK, well I did not "forget it". I did not even think about or consider this, and to be quite honest even when you now mentioned it, I probably will not. The problem is that I am not really sure about how accurate this is. In my opinion it is not so easy to predict fire danger and cannot be done just based on a few meteorological variables like temp, humidity etc. Given I work as a meteorologist/climatologist and our department now specializes on drought and evapotranspiration, I really do not see this as very informative... and so if people include it then, it could be misleading

If its not me....its gonna be somebody else so...

If there are new gauges on your template...its mostly my fault with my SteelSeries and you did not liked it SO

youre saying'''''''' and so if people include it then, it could be misleading'''''''''''''

And you already put it in the FireDanger block and in plugin

thats why theres a statement on a lot of personnal pages......N ever base important decisions on this or any weather information obtained from the Internet  :-P

finally...if i was so dissatisfied ,.....i wouldnt bother playing with your  :!: template and simply continue to use LEUVEN !

Yes I did include it in the plugin/block for fire danger, but using it is really up to you and how accurate you think it is. If I include it in the gauges, people who are unsure about what exactly it is will simply leave it enabled.
Just to give you an idea. Our algorithm at work uses tens of parameters. But even if you were ok with simplification, you would definitely need to take into account: solar radiation, soil type, vegetation, previous precipitation events, upcoming forecast, soil temperature, soil moisture.... none of these are included in the CBI calculation.

I think there's a bug.. not sure what in though. I set the gauges and settings to how I like, but only one gauge shows. I deleted the whole folder, and started again, but it still does it.

I've narrowed it down..

$gaugeOrder = "T,D,H,P,W,G,C,R,S"; - Doesn't work
$gaugeOrder = "T,A,H,P,W,G,C,R,S"; - Doesn't work

$gaugeOrder = "T,H,P,W,G,C,R,S"; - Does work
$gaugeOrder = "T,D,A,H,P,W,G,C,R,S"; - Does work

Lovely jubbly!

We've got some wild weather coming tonight! The models are indicating 20 - 30mm of rain, with 60 - 70mph gusts. I may have to stay up late for that. :)

Brings back memories to the time when I studied at the University of Edinburgh :D It actually wasnt as cold as it gets here, but the wind.... I remember one day I had to stay in the library for extra 2 hours because I literally couldn't get home... my house was about a mile from the campus and I walked and the wind was so strong and there were several roads one had to cross so I rather stayed inside until it calmed down a bit.
It finally got nice here, today we had even over 15C and almost sunny. But since we are a landlocked country and relatively deep inside the continent, we have relatively big differences between day and night. In fact end of March and April are months with largest daily temperature range. It is still freezing here almost every night, at my place it gets down to about 0, but I live right in the city center of a 500k city so it is much warmer here. And in April we often have temperatures below freezing point at night and then during the day it can get even above 25.
I dont like this too much because you have to wear a jacket in the morning otherwise you are cold and then during the day it gets to 25 and you have to carry all this extra clothes somewhere in your backpack :D

When my site first starts the gauges are huge.  As soon as I hit a + or - it fits in the block.
Is there something I'm missing in setup?

This is related to the browser that you're using.  On my Mac it comes up fine in FF, but with Safri the gauges come up huge.

No it isnt, I see the same problem in Chrome, but I never saw this before, there must be some clash in your CSS, I will try to find the problem and let you know.

Tom I need to rule out the possibility of CSS clash, what I therefore need you to do is try removing all blocks that are not originally part of the template and you created yourself. This will tell me if there is a problem in my code or not. I do not have the code for your customized blocks therefore it would be waste of time trying to find the problem if it was in those files, I wouldnt find it. Once we know that we can work further on trying to find the problem specifically.

I did it and it worked.  If you want I'll add one at a time back to see which one is causing the problem.

I dont think it is a browser issue, except for the last testing phase I use Chrome exclusively and it shows messed up for me even with Chrome, which it does not on any other website that uses the gauges. It must be something specific to your page

I've taken all my blocks out of the page and it still happens.  I've seen it on other sites.  When testing sometimes worked but a retry it wasn't.  Doesn't seem consistant.
My test is at www.shermanctweather.org/meteo/indextest.php

Even in my tests it works once then next time doesn't.
Even on my regular site with my blocks.
I've tried 3 other sites and two had the huge dials.

I have only had the problem with Chrome.  Firefox and IE have been fine every time I tried them.

Which is puzzling because Chrome is what I use and I checked 5 or more pages of other users and no problems...

Try the attached file, I changed one thing

I have opened and refreshed http://www.shermanctweather.org/meteo/indextest.php several times in IE and FF and your gauges are always the same size and look fine.  I am not at home so haven't added these new blocks yet to see how mine would look.

I sort of have an idea which parameter could be causing it, but what puzzles me is that if that one was not working, there would be problems with many other images/icons.

Tom if the one I sent does not help, then try the one I am attaching now

Last update: 2016-03-27 23:46 UTC (2 minutes ago)

The problem is that on days when I release something, there is much higher traffic and my server is no longer keeping up... the update is very time demanding and so when the server is overloaded, it times out...

Just to give you an idea.... when I set this all up, originally for my own personal website, I had around 10 to 15 visits a day... Never would imagine in a years time I will have that in a few minutes, when releasing something in even shorter interval...

I guess it is no surprise given I use the cheapest webhosting plan, unfortunately that was all I could afford because I also needed the ".com" domain and a test server. I will see if next yr Im able to afford an upgrade. If not then this is something that is not prioritized so when the server is overloaded, it preferentially serves the users rather than the network ;)

I've tried both but no luck.

One thing I noticed is that It is good every other time in Chrome.

Sorry, still no luck.

Actually last one is different.  Works for one gauge column(gauge too large).  Then have to keep hitting - to make the smaller.  Then when you reload it goes back to large gauge.
