I like them all so that local visitors can see how variable forecasts are, and that my Davis and Sager 12-24 Hour forecasts aren't so far fetched  :-).

I'll have to see how I too can include the Sager in to a block.

Colin,
Quote
THE WEATHER IN THE NEXT 5 MINUTES WILL BE VERY SIMILAR TO WHAT IS WAS 5 MINUTES AGO
but that is also often wrong!

By the way Colin, that picture block on your homepage is beautiful autumn scenery!

The accuracy will always differ depending on the particular synoptic situation, but in general I would never trust anything beyond 1 week ahead

Last Friday they forecast 20mm to 30mm of rain for Sunday. On Saturday they changed it to 10mm to 20mm for Sunday. Sunday morning they forecast 5mm to 10mm of rain for the day. We ended up getting 73mm rain on Sunday. They just don't know  :!:

Also depends to a great extent where exactly you live. There are places where obviously it is much more difficult to make forecasts. For example, in general, if you mean really long-term forecasts, then it is much easier to do for the American continent than for Europe. Then it depends on the continentality, the average wind speed, the wind patterns etc etc

I´m pretty sure, you have them hardcoded somewhere... ;-)

I am not blaming you for this. What I am saying is that the meteorologists must guesstimate what the forecast will be.
Our government closed down nearly 2000 stations across the state to cut costs. We used to have 5 stations within a 6km radius. Now the nearest one is 75km away.

Czech Republic is 78 000 km2 and in our network we have 198 fully equipped stations + another 120 that measure just precipitation

  We have 102 and they are not all fully functional. Our state is 237,000 km2

Meteotemplate - New Block - Count Down
« Reply #2843 on: May 12, 2016, 10:26:43 AM »
Hi guys,

a new block is now available called Count Down.

In this block you specify a certain date and time and it will show a graphical and textual dynamically updated count down to this date/time.

The counter automatically adjust to the block width and you can also specify the animation type (smooth or every second).

Just note that the count down takes into account real remaining time, in other words if there is a daylight savings time, it will then be shifted by one hour, because it shows the real remaining time.

Enjoy

Jachym

just figured i would ask again about the grlevelx plugin.  having it not show images if they are older xx time.  this would be helpful if you are not continually uploading your radar data.  like a message if no images are new enough, and also if there is only one new image, the rest are old, would not want to loop through 2 old images and 1 new image (for instance).

can there be a refresh added to the plug in too?  instead of having to hit refresh on the browser?

i finally have a fully functional gps script creating my placefile every minute on my server for my version of grlevelx to call to get gps locations of me and my team.  took some tweaking on the queries, but finally working how it should.

Hi,
yes I have it on my to-do list, you have to be patient :D

Im just not sure what exactly you meant by this:

Quote
can there be a refresh added

the images are constantly loaded from the grlevelx folder, so if grlevelx uploads new images they would be used

I will try asap, but this really is just a hobby - i love doing it and I do it 100% of my free time (voluntarily, I enjoy it), but I still have full- and part-time job and also, the more users, the more ideas and suggestions :D And I also prioritize those that need help with setting it up from scratch, so just this week I installed it to 3 people.

Have that said, I will definitely work on it, I in fact already have the grLevelX block almost finished, so once that is done, I will see if I can improve the plugin as well.

Thanks for patience, I definitely will try to do my best with it and it hopefully won´t take too long :-)

Any luck on getting data for a tropical weather block to deal with the hurricane season?

Well, there is no problem with the data source. I know exactly where to get the data. The problem is that I need to see what the output looks like before I even begin trying to develop something.

I want to use the NOAA official tropical weather feed, but all it has been showing for the past half a year is:
Quote
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st through November 30th.

So June 1st is the earliest I can look at it and then obviously it will take some time before I come up with something.
