Publishing WS 1090 to my Site
« on: May 17, 2012, 07:29:29 PM »
Ok I have been working on this all evening, and I think i am close to finishing, but dont know where to go from here...

What Ive done:

I installed cumulus and got it connected to my Weatherwise 1090 weather station with no problems

I opened filezilla and uploaded all of the files necessary as described on sandysoft's wikipage

I set up everything under internet settings on cumulus.

It now says its logging into my webhosting for ftp(ing), but my question is, is there not a code or something that you have to put on your webpage to get it to upload?? Thats the part that has me confused....

Thanks!!! And I am not using a wordpress page for this, Im not sure if I should use html or php or what, but I use Dreamweaver when creating webpages

Hi Joseph,

I'm not sure you have uploaded all the files.  I can see the weatherstyle.css file, but non of the other files.  I also do not see the dbimages folder.  I can see the images folder on your site but not he cumulus files.

In addition to uploading all the files, you also need to have Cumulus "process: the files.  Under configuration go to Internet Settings, select the files tab, place a check in both the include standard files and include standard images boxes.  Refer top http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Simple_Website_setup  for more information.

HTML is fine for this.  To make changes modify the HTML files that have a T in them, for example indexT.html.  Note you do not need to upload the "T" files, Cumulus will do that for you.

I should have all the files on there now, I think I sent them to the wrong place...

I think everything is good to go now with ftp, is there a code or something I need to put on a webpage??

Hi Joseph,

It appears that you are still missing the Cumulus webpages.

In the Cumulus program, select Configuration -> Internet -> Internet Settings.  Next select the files tab and place a check in both the "include standard files" and "include standard images" boxes.  Cumulus will automatically upload the webpages to the directory that you indicated in the Site/Options tab.  The pages are in html.

Make sure the directory that you specified in Internet -> Site/Options is correct.

What is the url you will be using for the cumulus pages?

Hi Joseph,

Can you see any of the cumulus files at in your directory at your web host?

I think you may want to approach your set up this way:  first create a folder called "cumulus", then move the cumulus files into that folder, next change your directory to yourdirectory/cumulus and have cumulus upload the html files to that folder.  Then either provide a link or add the link to your menu to the index.html file that cumulus uploads.

For example (this is my home directory - yours may be different depending on your web hosting service), if I wanted to create a location for cumulus, I would create the folder "cumulus" in my public_html directory and add the following to the Cumulus program Configuration -> Internet -> Sites/Options ->Directory

/public_html/Cumulus  (you should add your own directory here)

make sure you include your username and password.  Move the dbimages and other cumulus related files to that directory as well.  Then create a link to the index.html in your menu on somewhere on your page.

Please feel free to contact me via email (my email is in my profile page) if you have any more questions or need more help.

WOW! Thats a crapload of data!!! VERY AWESOME!!! I have a lot of dreamweaving to do now :-)

The only other question I can think of at the moment, is there anyway to get rid of data u deem unnecessary for my use, such as solar radiation?

Yes, edit the applicable xxxxT.htm file - i.e. indexT.htm
and you'd do the same for any other edit to the standard pages - i.e. add/change to the menu, additions to the page, etc.

Cumulus will then upload that as a revised index.htm page

Looks nice, Joseph.

You do not need the cumulus.ini file in the directory.  The graphs on the trends page are not visible.  You have the graph images in the Cumulus directory; those image files need to be in the dbimages folder.

Happy editing,

Kerry

Ah I see what you are referring to, the only problem is that when I go back to filezilla to do this, and i go under /web/index, there is nothing in it, but when i go under my computer, they are all there! :-k

Hi Joseph,

You also the images folder in the cumulus directory for the graphs to appear.

You can/should remove these files from the fitzweather/cumulus directory:

cumulus.ini
cumulus.exe
indexT.htm

Hi Joseph,

Happy to help.

Since you now have Cumulus up and running, you will likely have more questions.  I strongly suggest that you spend some time reading through the Cumulus Wiki pages and the Cumulus  (Sandaysoft) forum as you will find the answers to many of your questions in either of those two sources.
