With Stu's release of WeatherCat V0.95, Build 152, the AJAX/PHP template set plugin is now available.
WeatherCat is the successor to LWC (Lightsoft Weather Center for Macintosh)

http://saratoga-weather.org/wxtemplates/install.php to download the WCT-plugin (and Base if you need it).

Users of the V3 template set with another software package should also run the updates tool for their Base to get the 5 files changed for WeatherCat support.

Runs as you would except... perfectly!

One little glitch, as i don't have a nearby METAR so I commented out the reference to it in the "Settings-weather.php", I no longer get the METAR conditions, but I do get an image placeholder. Makes it look real ugly, so I uncommented the Settings-weather.php and use the nearest METAR which is 300 miles away. Not an ideal situation!

What am I doing wrong

Nothing wrong, Tony.  The current WCT-defs.php will only use a METAR for conditions .. I'll have to work up an updated one that allows the conditions/icon to be determined from CC$ string if no METAR is specified.  I'll have a update later today for you to try.

Did an update to WCT-defs.php (V1.01 - 25-Mar-2012) to use the CC$ text for current conditions (and pick an icon based on that) if no METAR is specified (i.e. the $SITE['conditionsMETAR'] line in Settings-weather.php is commented out).

Use the updates page to get the update (25-Mar-2012).

Thanks for the suggestion .. WeatherCat is one of the few weather software programs to provide this independently.. glad I could use the CC$ field for folks far-away from a METAR station.

Thanks for the update, works perfectly.

I have spent a lot of time refining an AppleScript to change the CC$ tag to automatically indicate my current conditions, works just as well as most METARS around here.
