Assessing interest in a Boltek LD-250
« on: March 12, 2020, 12:20:35 PM »
I have been contemplating removing the Boltek LD-250 to free up some space for a Ham Radio antenna.

It will probably be at least a month before I can get the antenna down off the roof.

The antenna is mounted inside a custom built PVC domed cap and pipe section.

I would include the shielded CAT5 (good outdoor grade). I'll inspect the cable when I take it down, but I believe that it is in good shape.

The LD-250 indoor unit looks good and is functional.

At this point, I am not yet 100% certain that I want to take it down and sell it. If there is some interest, please let me know.

Before I actually declare it "for sale", I'll post photos.

I will talk to the golf course I work at to see if the city would be interested in it

Either the golf course or pool.

I tried to reach the outdoor antenna using my 8 ft stepladder, but I couldn't reach it.

I'll need to go up on the roof and lean over the edge, but my confidence level climbing ladders isn't what it was just a few years ago.

I may need to hire some help once this COVID-19 thing is over, it might be a while....

Id be keen for just the LD250 Detector Console.

I already have an antenna from an older StormTracker.

PC upgrades have meant I can use the Stormtracker card.

I am going to make another attempt, I'll have to go up on the roof and lean over the edge of the peak. It has been a few years, but I think that this is what I had to do to install the antenna in the first place.

I would prefer to sell the entire package if I can get it removed successfully, though.

It may still be a week or two before I can get to it. I'll post an update once I get up on the roof and look at it again.

Well, be careful, or just think about putting it off. This would be a bad time to have to go to the emergency room.

Thanks, I hear you. I am not in a hurry, so I will take your advice.

I'll create a new thread for the sale of the Boltek LD-250. I managed to get it down yesterday.

Only two casualties:

  • I had to chop the STP Cat 5 cable to get it down since it was too intertwined with other cabling.
  • The rusty floor flange would not budge one iota. It is stuck.
