IPTimelapse Weather Display Update
« on: June 21, 2020, 12:19:32 PM »
I had a request to add a Weather Display parser to IPTimelapse webcam software.  There is now an option on the weather tab page to read the Weather Display clientraw.txt file from a hosting server and put the weather onto a jpeg image for upload or onto a live stream.  There is also the option to read clientraw.txt from a local computer folder.

Also, you can stream an IP camera video to YouTube or Facebook with weather data and there is a new option to stream HLS video from your home computer using Windows IIS or an Nginix server.  The software download is here: https://iptimelapse.com/iptimelapse-pro

Not a WD user so using my IONTARIO226 WU station for weather text.

Enjoy,

I'm going to have another play with it, but the version I tried last year only supported a couple of weather details, and I was also after something that I could put a 'box' over a certainly part of the image, and put the weather details in to that.

The idea is to publically hide a neighbours back verandah area, without using a privacy mask on the camera, as the camera itself provides a source of security for that neighbour if things go bad.

I like the idea of being able to put the weather text in a particular zone .  :)

Trying this out again on a different computer and IP camera, and wanted to know if there's a way to save the output image at a different size to what the camera provides.

I've got a 4k camera, but want an output image of 1920 x 1080

I couldn't see an option to do that, but perhaps I'm not looking in the right spot for it. :)

Edit: and where can I change the date format from MM/DDY/YYY to DD/MM/YYYY  ?

Hi, there is a thumbnail option on the Exposure tab page.  You can set the size of the thumbnail image.  Is that what you need?

My videos are 1280x720 (https://novawx.dscloud.me/wxcam-lapse.php). I set the width in the Encoding section of the TIMELAPSE tab to 1280. I also cropped the view in the Crop tab to show a smaller area because I wanted to minimize any views of my neighbor's yards in the video.

You can change the time format on the Schedule & FTP tab on the left side under General Options just to the right/under Image Text.

Thanks for that, sorted that one out now. :)

What I would like to be able to do is to do similar what I'm doing in a roundabout way with the ancient ImageSalsa software, that's creating a 'box' to display my local data, and also hide my neighbours back door area.

Here's a clip of what I'm after. :-

This is how I want to be able to display it.

Whilst I can currently get ImageSalsa to load the thumbnail and add that stuff, I'm guessing that ImageSalsa will eventually stop working with some windows update, as the developer left it over 15 years ago.

You should be able to create a box with IPTimelapse for your local data. You're already displaying the data at the top of your image with a semi-transparent background. I think you can do so via the Stream Text tab and Weather Text section. You can play with the x and y position to create a box of the appropriate size/location and then change the transparency and box color to cover your neighbor's house.

I've only got that enabled for testing purposes, and grabbing the image in to ImageSalsa to added the box and text. I was going to remove that later on.

That suggestion of the  Weather Text box might be what I'm after. I'll go have a play with it today, thanks.

I just went and looked at the registration fee for IPTimelapse, and it comes up as $213 for me !! so this might all be moot if I have to go to something different. :(

I was lucky and got it for 79USD, before it went up to 129USD. At the current exchange rate, that's 185AUD. Why is it 213AUD for you? Are there taxes or fees imposed? Either way, that is expensive.

Yeah, I wish I had've done it way back then when he first released it.

I've been in touch with Michael, and he's helped me out there.

Yep, exchange rate should have taken it to $AUD186 , but Fastspring have chosen to make some extra out of the exchange rates.
