UK: Steinberg SBS-WS-300 ( Like Froggit WH3000SE )
« on: December 29, 2020, 07:11:43 AM »
Hi,

I'm new here.  Got a Steinberg SBS-WS-300 for Christmas, no manual or instructions, but it seems to match perfectly the Froggit WH3000SE.  Got it all set up in the best location I can in a small UK back yard, might move it later.  Only issue so far is not being able to adjust relative pressure, the instructions say you enter an offset, but the console wants the absolute value.  Think the firmware is EasyWeather-WIFIC109 V1.5.6

My WU ID is IMIDDL33

Anyone else got a similar one, is it a generic one which appears as different brands, and can you add extra sensors?

All the best, Dave.

Set the display to show you Relative pressure.
Just adjust your Relative pressure until it matches you local METAR.
https://en.allmetsat.com/metar-taf/united-kingdom-ireland.php

That is it. Unless you want to go deeper and also get the Absolute pressure right. People that report to CWOP or connect additional software need this to be correct. Otherwise it's up to you to consider it or not.

Basically to also set up Absolute pressure requires you knowing your elevation (up to and including your console which has the barometer). Then you do some math and figure out what that elevation represents in terms of barometric pressure. This becomes the offset between Relative and Absolute. You dial in this difference by adjusting the Relative to be that much off from Absolute. Then you compare the value your station reports as Relative to you local METAR. If it's spot on you are done. If it is a bit off you adjust Absolute by the required correct amount.....But do not ever adjust Relative ever again as that Offset between Relative and Absolute corresponds to your elevation (which obviously doesn't change...so don't touch Relative after you set it to your elevation). Fine tuning calibration to Relative is done by adjusting Absolute, but only after you have the proper elevation offset into Relative.

Use this site to calculate your Relative Offset (difference between Sea Level and Atmospheric prrssure).
Just enter in your elevation. Do not change 1,013.25 hPa nor the 15°C temperature. Only enter in elevation in meters.

If you don't know your elevation or even if you do, double check with this tool. Don't forget to add the height of your console where the barometric sensor is.

That’s a good help thanks, think it’s sorted now, the relative pressure was in the initial setup page and the absolute pressure was in the calibration page. My relative pressure should be matching my local airport now, and absolute is about 7 less.

If you have Absolute at 7 hPa less than Relative that would mean you are at about 58 or 59 meters of elevation. Seems right. Nice job.
