Zello PTT app
« on: January 28, 2018, 06:08:49 PM »
I was looking around the Google Play Store and found Zello. Zello is a PTT app that turns your phone in to a Handi-Talkie. You can use it to talk 1-1 with another person, or connect to a Zello channel and talk/listen with a group. I went through the list and there are several weather related channels, or you can start your own, even a WxForum channel.

I haven't tried it yet, but am planning on a 1-1 test with a friend.

(Hey, how self-referential... a Chit-Chat topic about chat... :) )

Zello (and Echolink) are taking off in the ham radio world.  There are quite a few Android-based network radios on the market now, offering a real push-to-talk radio-like experience.....

Yeah, that's where I got the idea to look for a PTT app.

I take it that you've seen the network radio emails from CT1EIZ? It took me a while figure out what he was selling.

The garbled screen is from me resizing the image.

Streaming 3G/4G/wifi, depending on the chosen radio.  They all seem to be European/GSM devices, and only work on AT&T and T-Mobile (GSM providers) in North America.....
