CWOP Export failing
« on: September 08, 2020, 04:22:02 PM »
2+ years with loggerv1 and no problems. Upgraded to loggerv2 and it isn't attempting to export to CWOP. Exports fine to Weather Underground and Weatherlink but fails to attempt to CWOP. I've tried rebooting, resetting time periods, resetting enable/disable, re-entering data, etc. I have a Watchguard T15 firewall so I can see every packet in the network and the logger never attempts the call. -- Update, V2 has firmware version 2.33

cwop.aprs.net 14580
pw: –1

Any ideas? Tkx

make sure you have all the boxes filled out - Call Sign - server: cwop.aprs.net , port 14580 , and yes password: (mine has) -1 vers WiFiLogger 2.25,
my interval is set to 5 minutes, and under wind speed I have 10-minute avg Wind Speed - if all that's filled out then you will need to wait for someone else to chime in... Hope that helps... also I'm on version: WiFiLogger 2.30

tkx, yes, I have all the data placed in the section. Only difference I see from V1 logger is it asks for a password and I put in -1 (instead of V1 where it said Yes Password which was also set to -1) but that shouldn't stop it from attempting to connect I wouldn't think.

Does /debug show anything in the logging?

Enjoy,

Add to your WiFiLogger ipaddress url /debug
i.e. 192.168.0.160/debug

My settings are:

"Citizen Weather Observer Program" export settings:
http://www.wxqa.com/
Mode: Enable
Call Sign: FW2530
APRS Server: cwop.aprs.net port: 14580
Password: -1 vers WiFiLogger2 2.25o
Interval: 5 min
Wind speed: 10-Min Avg Wind Speed

In my debug every 5 minutes I get like below:
CWOP 5

NewCWOP NOAA
user FW2530 pass -1 vers WiFiLogger2 2.25oClient response time: 50
# javAPRSSrvr 4.3.0b17
FW2530>APRS,TCPIP*:@091345z4259.41N/08125.75W_055/000g003t059r000p006P001h71b10234L130.WFLClient response time: 15000

timeout

You will notice there is some differences in the logging.

All the other uploads: WL, WU, PWS, WC, AWEKAS, WOW, Windy, GLOBE, WE along with CWOP seem fine.

The WiFiLogger v2 2.32 is used with a Vue console.

Enjoy,
Paul

I hate to be a problem but I don't know what you are asking. "Please
go to Setup->Export Setup to CWOP form" doesn't make sense as there is
no corresponding name on the custom export settings link. Are you
wanting me to export settings somehow?

I believe he is asking to make sure you have it enabled.  He may not have given you the full correct spelling which for my set up is:
Click on Setup
Click on Data Export Setup
Go to "Citizen Weather Observer Program" export settings:
and make sure for Mode: Enable is selected.

What is your CWOP call sign?

Enjoy,
Paul

I'm not sure you can export every minute to CWOP - I believe the minimum may be 5 minutes... don't hold me to that, maybe someone else can confirm - I also have extra information after the -1 in the password field (not sure if it matters)...
my password field has : -1 vers WiFiLogger 2.25

I've set the time to numerous settings -- I'm using 1m now to see if it will make any attempt. As for the password field, that changed with Wifilogger2 and 2.33 firmware which I'm using, it appears. That said, it should still attempt to send a packet but it isn't.

ok that makes sense - I guess I'm behind a version or 2 - I'm on "WiFiLogger 2.30"  - I'm running out of suggestions -

Your station is marked Inactive. I would recommend to send an email to resolve that.

Looks like your clock time/date or time zone is not correct.

Raw APRS data says otherwise.
http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/raw.cgi?call=FW4573

If you look at the raw data the part that starts with @ sign and ends with z is the date/time stamp. Date followed by hour/minutes. This time stamp has a z at the end because it is supposed to be in Zulu time which is is UTC (GMT). If you look at your time stamps they are wrong when you look at the last packet.

You also need to start sending every 5 minutes instead of every 1 minute because that is the proper etiquette and requested interval for CWOP.

Okay I've looked at your packets on the APRS network and I can now confirm that your date/time stamp are correct.

I have the following recommendations for you to follow in this order:
  • Change your upload interval to 5 minutes
  • Send an email to cwop-support <at> noaa.gov and tell them that you'd like to make your CWOP station ID active again

You can check this link to see when they change your activation status:
http://wxqa.com/sss/search1.cgi?keyword=FW4573

Here is some more details on what I've discovered...
Your live uploads are making it into the APRS network. I can confirm that I'm seeing your live data with proper date/time stamp. However FindU is not showing live data because your station is considered inactive. Interestingly though an inactive station that is uploading will still show raw data on FindU but it will be maybe 12 hours behind in terms of the packets shown as received. No data will flow into MADIS nor anything else like Gladstonefamily ...etc. You'll only see your data on the APRS network.

Your station is marked Inactive. I would recommend to send an email to resolve that.

Nope... you need to be made active first.

WifiLogger1 bit the dust and we had to order a wifilogger2 from Ryan.

I have the following recommendations for you to follow in this order:

Done! Nice find, thank you! Ok, now I'm confused. The only packets leaving my logger are going to weatherunderground and weatherlink. Is weatherlink is feeding CWOP?
