ebay is COMPETITIVE. Especially when it comes to bidding.
I mean, I get it. Some stuff on this site is rare. But people are just way too competitive sometimes.

I agree.  I think what we're seeing is people are buying used weather gear at a yard sale, and have no idea what it is or the true value.  Then they have to add back what they lose to Ebay..??

I only buy on eBay if I cannot find the item I want cheaper elsewhere and then only from my local country, if the item is not in the UK then I pass on  it!
