PC Mover
« on: July 03, 2024, 08:10:50 AM »
I am thinking about buying a new laptop with Windows 11 to replace my old one with Windows 10.  Has anyone used PC Mover to transfer data to a new computer, particularly about how it works moving Weather Display? Thanks.

Yes it is a good program, I have used it three times. I use the one with the with 485 cable. Clean out all the old junk before you transfer or the junk will on your new computer.

You will probably need to contact Brian Hamilton to register your new PC for WD.

. . . particularly about how it works moving Weather Display?

One of the steps in moving WD to another computer involves copying the WD registry entries (see FAQ at https://discourse.weather-watch.com: go to Docs topics from the top line). Will PC Mover do that, or will you still have to double-click wdisplayftp.reg as described in the FAQ?

Stuart, Vasco -- thanks for the information.  I will look into all of this before I proceed.

You may need to wait until you get WD running on the new PC IIRC I think Brian needs a code from the new PC. Not absolutely sure nowadays as I no longer use WD.
