Logfile blank after sudden PC restart
« on: May 03, 2024, 01:51:43 PM »
Yesterday my PC suddenly turned off due to a power outage, and the monthly logfile remained blank. The weather station is a Davis vantage pro. I thought that since the data was in the data logger, the lost data would be regenerated but that is not the case. Any solution? Thank you

You mean that the logfile for May (52024lg.txt) is completely empty?
No data at all for the previous days?
Then go to the wdisplay install directory.
Go to Databackup folder.
There you'll find a databackup52024.zip file.
In it is the 52024lg.txt file.

But if you mean that no data has been written to the logfile since the computercrash and you are not able to retrieve that data.
Sorry, I don't know.

That's right friend, the monthly logfile was blank. Right now it is no longer because the data from the days following the error is being stored, that is, from day 3 if there was data. The backup file databackup52024.zip was exactly the same. I have been able to recover something from day 1 since I have WD configured to upload to my hosting. However, I have added the lines to the logfile and from the program I load the logfile and those entries added manually do not appear, it indicates that there is no data for day one.

Does anything occur to you? Thank you so much

Well fixed, between the backup and the option that has weather display (which I didn't know about) to extract the data from the Davis data logger, I have been able to reconstruct the monthly logfile.
