Looks great Chris.

Thanks!  Which one would you go with?  I'm torn....  keeping it the same or something new-ish

Chris, both homepages offer up a whole lot of weather information in clean, understated formats.  Both reflect the notion of “less is more” by providing loads of weather information without employing a lot of flashy design on long pages.

But your original homepage likely gets my vote because it has the changing photo/message element that provides an enticement to look deeper into the site.  I think you also might use one of the frames to highlight the day’s “key message” or “synopsis” from the NWS Forecast Discussion for your area, with a link to the full discussion for those wanting more.

Another site that has a lot of information packed into an understated design is Marquetteweather.com.

Hats off to you.  Whatever page you decide to go with, your viewers will be well served.  —Bill

I like the one with the info box to the right better.

Another opinion requested with alerts on the homepage...

I have two examples (screenshots attached).

1.  Displaying the alerts at the top of the page and then pushes everything underneath it down.
2.  Displaying the alerts in the header of the current conditions box, everything else remains in place.

Which is more user intuitive, looks better, etc.?

Alerts to the left rather than across the page gets my vote, love the look, really clean  [tup]
