WifiLogger Access Point
« on: August 11, 2024, 04:16:41 PM »
The most recent firmware update (2.42) allows the user to enable an "Access Point" that is "detectable in the local network".

I'm curious what is the purpose of the Access Point and what is the password that allows one to connect to it?

Well, I've determined that the user sets the password via the WifiLogger web interface but I still don't understand what the purpose of the Access Point is. If anyone has the answer, I'd like to know too.

I don't see where this says anything about the Access Point.

I don't see where this says anything about the Access Point.
The first page of that document has a heading that says:

2. Enable none secure access point network:

I don't have one of those devices, but  I do have several Ecowitt gateways, which seem to function similarly.  The point of the referenced access point network is to establish a temporary connection to the device webserver, to allow the customer to set options for the device that will be for use during "normal" operation, when the webserver does not offer the temporary setup options and  instead is processing data (in accordance with the "options" set earlier) from the weather sensors (plus possibly other devices as well).
