For a place that touts sunshine 350 days a year, you'd sure as hell have a hard time proving it. I think I've seen the sun maybe three times in the last six weeks, if not longer. I've been here 30 years and never recall soooo much cloud cover for soooo long. I believe someone posted the same thing a few weeks ago, but I think they were back east, I would expect that.
Change is a comin' though, finally we get a ridge later in the week, temps pushing 80F. \:D/
Eh.
Sunshine is overrated. I'll take cloudy over sunshine every time.
Normally I'd completely agree, because it's always sunny here, but not this season...Jeez, I think I'm back in Vermilion....

Hear that!
We had some cool, cloudy, rainy conditions here recently. Reminded me of northern Ohio.

If I had my druthers, I'd choose in between somewhere.  Enough broken clouds to keep the bright Sun out of my eyes at least part of the time.

Check this out. AFD from Jacksonville Florida issued by the San Juan PR office.
Crazy stuff.

:???: I get that it's going to be Arizona dry, but why is JAX showing San Juan's AFD, they're well over 1000 miles apart? Not only, who's drying out, Florida or PR?  :?

It's the Jax AFD issued by San Juan.
I could see if the office was down because in the past it's happened before and  I think it was Melbourne that issued the AFD.

Never heard of such a thing. This is just plain weird. What's wrong with the Jax WFO?

That would be for the interior SE US. Western 1/3 looking likely above average temps.  Equal chances above/below normal for everywhere else.

Major winter storm on track. 8-12" snow total for Valentine very possibly along with forecasters confidence going up with upper-air sampling of the storm overnight making for a powerful negatively tilted system which was what ECMWF (EURO) model has been suggesting for a week.

EURO solution.

One person's silliness is another's rationality, that's why we live in different areas. I'm retired and there's not enough money to get me to move into a place with boring weather. Did it for 60 years the next whatever left I have is where Its fun.

NWS-Duluth has issued a winter weather watch for this storm with the same snow amounts possible in northeast Minnesota.  If the snow materializes, it will provide needed ground insulation to keep septic systems from freezing up this winter. Snow cover is spotty in our area right now, and without more snow for insulation, stretches of subzero weather could cause some unprotected septic systems to freeze up, especially at lake cabins and seasonal homes where the systems aren’t in continuous use.

If this holds-It will be  a bust for me. Wintry mix. Hazardous winter outlook.

I'm OK with this. '
Looks like a big cut off between snow and no snow.

An unusual December precipitation event for this location.

.68" in the Davis at the present time, which means that we have received more than the average December precipitation in this one event. Temperatures above freezing. Average precipitation is around .55" for the month.

And I don't need to shovel it.  ;)

I bet ValentineWeather will be doing some shoveling.

Probably, but looking the latest model runs system is sliding heaviest to the east about 50-70 miles so might only get 4-8" instead of 8-14".  The wrap around on Thursday may change that idea however.

Quite a rainy day today, 12/26, in Oklahoma. Much of the mid section of the country is included.  Oklahoma City has never had so much rain before on Dec. 26th.   It's to conclude with a line of storms from Texas coming through around 10pm, assuming it holds up.  After that colder with no more precip.  likely through next week.

Just what we need.  Another inch or more of rain on top of already swollen rivers.  We were partially flooded in at this time last year.  Maybe going for a repeat?
