New user needs expert help
« on: May 14, 2007, 05:13:37 PM »
Ok. My programmer is working on the new website. I showed him how VWS puts out nice jpg's to add to it. However, we get a black frame around the jpg. I tried changing the background in VWS and it won't allow anything but black for the graphs and gauges. Is there anyway around this ?

Not sure if I understand what you mean. But when you right click on each gage you can set the frame size to zero. That should eliminate the black frame. Hope this helps.

That's why I asked for a URL to one of the graphics. It might help to actually see what he's talking about.

I'd say this is what he's talking about: http://www.johnsweather.com/vws007.jpg

If I remember correctly there is an option for border color on each individual gauge if you right click on them.
Make them transparent and you should have your answer.

Hey that's my gauge!

That's what I meant in my post.  But I never thought to show one as an example.

Frame is set to 0 and I still have a black line at the top where the title is. I try to set the background to any color but black and it won't let me change it. Heat index gauge for example is blue on a black square background. I try setting the background to transparent on any gauge or display and it snaps back to black. What am I doing wrong ? The website is not online at this time I am trying to get some of the kinks worked out. The big one is trying to figure out how to import the database from Weatherview 32 over to VWS. One of my programmers is working on that and thinks he can do it or at least export it to a sql database that could be used with the MySql module and the free php module.

OK, under Modify Display\General Display settings   see if you checked "Same for all...Background Color" .   If so, when you try to change the background color on individual gauges it will convert back to the "Same for all" color.

Just found it. Missed the global setting. Thanks for all the responses. Got more to do with VWS before going live and switching off the old station on Weatherview 32
