1st decent rain in months
« on: August 25, 2022, 11:39:36 AM »
We had a decent storm here this morning, well, thunder, lightning and rain, no wind

Ecowitt Lighting

Last Distance 8.7 mi
Last Timestamp 08/25/2022 07:59:02
Daily Count 262

Ecowitt rain was only 58.7mm
Davis rain was 63mm
and the manual 4" was about 52mm

Not sure who to believe but if i only had the Davis then i would have taken that as gospel lol

I caught a few minutes on video

Kind regards

Can you send some down here? We had 0.5mm last evening around 22:15 and 0.1mm early this morning and nothing since.

We have had  quite a bit of light rain over the past few days which is ideal, avoided the torrential downpours

Garden is recovering nicely though

I think my garden is beyond any recovery, certainly going to have large bare patches over winter, I have 3 dogs so it just got flattened and broken and a lot of it just crumbles under foot :( I hope I'm wrong mind, i hate dirty paws lol
Kind regards

I gave up on ploughed field syndrome many years ago, about 700 quids worth of heavy duty grass mats and 20 tons of gravel. Without the mats, the gravel just got furrowed.
Anyway back to the weather aspect.
I recently threw a wobbly at my WH40, so the fact you recorded more than your Stratus is quite interesting.
Up to yesterday, I would have put my money on the tipping mechanism being the weak link.
I've posted elsewhere that it is actually quite capable.
I'm actually, seriously considering grafting a Davis aerocone on to mine.
Would you mind sharing the rain rates from your Ecowitt and Davis from that event.

Cheers

Hi, my Davis recorded 90mm/ph and the WH40 only shows 41mm/ph, big difference there
Kind regards

Thanks for that.
From your ecowitt chart, the high intensity was short lived.
If it had been longer. I suspect the disparity on the total would have been greater.

if you can keep them off it for a week or so it will recover quickly
