Firefox browser 103.0.1 (64-bit) breaks Belchertown skin?
« on: August 02, 2022, 12:25:38 PM »
I just upgraded to the latest version of Firefox and this version seems to have issues.. at least on my machine.

Can someone take a look at Pat's belchertownweather.com website and see if it looks broken?

I've tried changinging zoom levels, font sizes but still looks broken. Images and text not wrapping correctly...

Would appreciate it!

Thanks chief-david!
OK so it appears it is not a website issue.
I can also confirm that the site works in the latest versions of Brave and Vivaldi.
I can also confirm that disabling all add-ons/extensions does not help things so I suspect it could be the latest version of firefox that could be the problem.
Can I downgrade?

Thanks for checking!
..should have mentioned that the issue is with a Windows 10 machine.
I am writing this post with ubuntu firefox version 102. No problems there.

Thanks mcrossley.
Now that makes things very interesting indeed.
I noticed with firefox 103 that the menu font size became slightly larger - which I thought was great as my desktop is hooked up to the flatscreen TV and it is hard to see those teeny tiny menus from across the room. However the web sites in general seemed a tad bigger so as soon as decreased the zoom level, belchertown breaks...not only belchertownweather.com but the belchertown skin running locally on my rpi.
Hmmm...

Try running the developer tools in Firefox and check the Console for issues loading files.. it may be a CSS file can't be loaded fully on your browser.

Also, check any anti-popup or anti-spam plugins to see if they are blocking a 'pull' from the website.

The bletchertownweather.com site loads fine in my Windows 10 Firefox 64 103.0.1 (after I enabled the various scripts from different sources with uMatrix plugin).

Thanks. I used the troubleshoot mode in firefox which disables all extensions. It did complain about embed.windy.com that webGL radar failed. Looks like "troubleshoot mode" disables windy's webGL so I thought I had another problemfor a sec (or two!).
--

I think I found the error.

I suspect a firefox setting called "zoom text only" is the culprit. Apparently belchertown doesn't like it. Perhaps I may have inadvertently clicked it on while adjusting the global zoom level although I don't recall changing it.

Unchecked, belchertown is back to normal (screen elements are back in the right place).
Thanks for everyone's help on this.

Problem solved!

I use firefox 103.0.1 64 bit on win 10.
I also use ''zoom text only", all works locally and on Pat O'Brien's site.
Just tried a ridiculously high zoom and everything wraps OK up to 150% when some of the boxes understandably run out of room.

Interesting..it must be something got twigged on my machine during the latest upgrade.
The menus got a big bigger causing some of the add-ons (extensions) to be pinned to the overflow menu. Likewise, a bookmark folder was moved to the overflow menu as well.
Here is what belchertownweather.com looked like yesterday before unchecking the "zoom text only" box.
Appreciate the feedback!

I can't duplicate that.
Pushed the text zoom to 170%, boxes scale vertically.
Only weirdy I get, I can't do a full page screenshot with the zoom above 110%.
Looks OK on the page, but the screenshot is clipped on the rhs.

Anyway, you're fixed, so good news.
