If so, are there any tutorials or examples of how to do this? I know I can do Davis VP2-->NANO-->WeeWx-->MQTT-->Ubitdots but I'd rather avoid passing through another machine.

It doesn't seem like the Meteobridge supports MQTT. But maybe you can ask for this to be developed.
But maybe there is another way that is not with MQTT, as the Meteobride does support a bunch of other methods of sending data. Maybe FTP, SFTP, HTTP, HTTPS, or mySQL might be other methods to consider for a direct path.

Even the Meteobridge.com new comparison chart to the WiFiLogger points out that MQTT is not supported which the WiFiLogger has:

The comparison chart is interesting, but note that Docbee has listed Wifilogger at 169 EUR when (in NA at least) it is 114 EUR (139 USD)

Price is taken from Johnd's prodata in the UK, the only shop I know of selling it in Europe. If you find a cheaper price in Europe, I will reflect this. But price isn't what the comparison is focussed on. Main intention is to give some more clarity about product features in my own product range. WiFi logger is more in there for reference as some users seem to struggle to understand that a NANO is something very different than a WiFiLogger. I hope I did right on this. Corrections are always welcome.
