Weather link question
« on: July 05, 2019, 05:32:50 PM »
Good afternoon all ,i recently purchased a used Davis vantage pro 2 console and with it also  came a USB data logger ,so my question can the cable and the CD  from data logger to PC be purchased separately ,or would I also have to buy everything in a package deal ;Thanks

There is nothing really special with the USB cable and the CD (I assume WeatherLink software for PC) can be freely downloaded from the WeatherLink.com site, you just need to create a stupid account

If you're wanting to use Weatherlink with the USB, here's the full build of 6.0.3, no strings attached.

No, not even close. IIRC, the VP2 console can only store 3 weeks worth of data. The data logger itself is limited also depending on your archive interval. If you want to store long term, you'll need to put it somewhere else. My long term stuff is on my PC itself.

Oh I wouldn't think so, it's a common item I believe. Something like Best Buy or the like should do.

BTW, I forgot one important thing, the maximum length of the cable should not exceed 16 feet for technical reasons I don't understand.

My logger is ~8 years old and is definitely a female connector. The pic you linked of the cable appears correct with the male end.

Oh, BTW again, don't know if you got a manual(s) with the VP2/logger, important that you remove a/c and battery power before installing or removing the logger, otherwise it may get a boo-boo.
