Need help with background image
« on: November 21, 2012, 09:05:12 PM »
I figured out how to set my background image & make it static on my homepage (index), but what do I have to do the get it to show up on the other pages? I assume it's some CSS file but I'm not sure which one or where to insert the code.

Thanks,
Roger

Hi Roger,

Look under your weather-screen-silver-narrow.css file at the top of the page for:

body {
  color: black;
  background-color: #D4D7D9;
  font-family: verdana, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;
  font-size: 73%;  /* Enables font size scaling in MSIE */
  margin: 0;
  padding: 0;
}

Change "background-color: #D4D7D9;" to "background-image: url(background.jpg);"

This will put your pic on every web page you have, if that is what your wanting.

Hope this helps,

John

Thank you John!  That is what I was looking to do. I do have another question though, is it possible to have the background image static like I have it on my main page?  It's no big deal if it's not possible,  but I'd like to make it uniform if I could.

Thanks again for the help!

Here's how I do it on mine:

        background-repeat:no-repeat;
   background-attachment: fixed;
   background-position:center top;
   background-image:url(/images/blue_background.jpg);

Hi Roger,

I would do what Steve suggested for your background image.  In addition, if/when you do change your.css file, you may need to remove the Javascript you have currently on your front page for the background or you may end up with 2 background images, possible off set from each other.

Thanks for the info guys, it's working! I tried adding the extra code to the css file first, and it didn't mess up my index page so I just left the java in place.  \:D/

Thanks again,
Roger
