NexStorm Maps
« on: February 29, 2008, 03:08:45 PM »
I have looked at the map facility in NexStorm Lite and I find it a little cumbersome to create/import a map and set the coordinates correctly. Is there a better way to create a map given the 800km setting for the SCALABLE map in NexStorm? Or if I give someone my geo center can they make me one? ( I'll take you out to lunch)

Thanks!

Jim

I think the easiest way is to order a custom map from Boltek (http://www.boltek.com/maps.html).  Doing it that way they are fully scalable with no loss in resolution when you zoom in.  You might check that out.

Actually, those maps are no longer valid, since Boltek no longer supplies their software with the StormTracker. NexStorm Lite is now included.

Those maps can be found here: http://www.astrogenic.com/cvmmap.html

Thanks for bailing me out, Bob!  I knew that, especially since Astrogenic is where I bought mine just a few months ago when I got my Boltek.   ](*,)

The CVM map is the only way to go and easily loads into Nexstorm. Below is the number one reason why I prefer a CVM or a homemade map. Plus, they are fairly inexpensive and Relko emails them directly to you. Oh, forgot to mention. Don't forget to join the Strikestar network once you have your detector up and running.

Because vector graphics are coordinate based, the images can be scaled to virtually any size without losing image quality. Raster based graphics, on the other hand, become increasingly blocky or pixelated with each higher magnification factor since each pixel increases in size as the image is magnified.
