WS-23** wind spike
« on: May 16, 2011, 10:02:15 PM »
I have a WS-23** hardwired - modified the wire to shielded as a precaution
against high spikes. Been running ok for a couple of years, now almost daily
I get a 114mph spike.

Any ideas

Ron

The first 2 things I personally would check is the p.c. AC power ground may have been changed somehow, and secondly, a new nearby RF interference source has appeared.
I guess while you're checking grounds have a look at the shielded cable you mentioned to make sure the shield is grounded at console/display end only.
Good luck.

Mine does the same thing. Someone here had a lengthy post detailing his attempts to fix it. His details mirrored mine- Old house, old non-grounded electrical system, his gust recordings were in multiples of 14 (14-28-42-56 etc). After much troubleshooting, it came down to him grounding the computer itself. So I think DanS is on the right track.
I am finally going to ground my system directly over the Memorial Day weekend (too much snow at the cabin this year!), I am confident that this will eliminate the weird gust info.

Hi Dan

PC power is grounded and as we are in a drought I wet the ground around the stake.
Been about 3 or 4 days ok - fingers crossed.
