I have a recurring issue where after a couple of days, VWS stops updating my webpage. It looks like it just fails to upload, but im not sure.
The error in the FTP log file is:
07/25/09,13:50:47,Maximum number of ftp connections already open,Login to home.comcast.net (Attempt 2)
The whole log file is filled with this error. I have turned off 'rapid fire' as well but that hasnt fixed anything.
Any ideas? I dont like having to restart the software every other day.

is it a free hosting plan?
i.e do they limit the number of ftp connections, etc?
-
rapid fire does not use ftp... believe its an http send...
do you have any other programs uploading besides VWS?
You should considering consolidating all your ftp uploads with a Fling like product. Then you should only have 1 connection at a time.

Maybe i will try fling. Its not a 'free' site, its with my ISP. I dont have any other uploads going on that i know of. It will work for 3 days sometimes and then just stop.
I have updated my software from p34 to p87...maybe that will fix it, i dont know.

Jackpot.
I bet that link will help! Thanks guys!
If i end up using fling, how do i 'disable' the VWS FTP and still have all my images/webpages updated so they can be uploaded with fling?
-
Under the internet menu do the following
1) FTP JPEG settings - FTP automated schedule - change "Update method" to "No update scheduled"
2) HTML Settings - Upload Files to internet - click the scheudule button next to all your htm files, change them all to "no update schedule"
Your jpg and htx processing is separate from ftp uploading. If you de-schedule your ftp jobs as above, all your processing will still occur.

OK, the software is still hanging.
Now i have downloaded fling and given it my vws/root folder. What needs to get uploaded from there and how do i set up VWS to make sure everything is updated properly? Where do i set how often the html files are updated and the jpegs are updated?
-
I Fling all of the root folder. Go to properties and click the scan update tab at the top to set up the upload time. I upload mine every time the file changes.

The only thing that needs to be uploaded is your jpegs, and html files.
Where do i set how often the html files are updated and the jpegs are updated?
For Html Updates go to... internet > html settings and adjust the update timer. Very Important, while there make sure your "Upload Files to Internet" schedules are turned off.
For Jpegs go to.. Settings > Jpeg File Settings and adjust the Jpeg Update Timer. Also Very Important, then go to.. Internet > FTP Jpeg Settings > Click on FTP Automated Schedule and make sure that is off.
...then you make a "job" in Fling pointed to your html folder at 4 minute intervals to check for new ones of those. And then do another "job" in Fling for your jpegs.
OR as mentioned above put all of the files in one folder for fling to process.
Ever since I started using fling my VWS hangups have disappeared. I now run VWS for 35+ days without ever restarting it. And the only reason I restarted it, was to shutdown and restart windows xp, after a disk image backup.
