Gosh guys, I thought this was the season of good cheer? - oh well. Here in TX we're doing just fine, healthy happy and maskless. Here's hoping the grinches won't kill the spirit of Christmas and they fail to con too many people into being politically obedient by wearing face diapers.
I found both the original parody and the one I put up parodying the opposing view quite funny. However, it appears that to some it can't be funny unless it supports their view.
Now, it's the season of good cheer, unless someone makes a decision that isn't their decision, If so they are "falling for the con", "politically obedient" and wearing "face diapers", rather than just doing something that has no effect on the people who choose not to.
This has been an enlightening thread.

I am fully vaccinated and boostered, i wanted to do my part to help our healthcare system, this virus isn't going away any time soon and if me taking the shots prevents me from infecting and killing just 1 person, it was worth it, in my eyes.

Although I applaud your altruistic effort, herein lies the problem of world governments not passing along factual information for motives of control. The "vaccine(s)", and it's boosters, and all that will follow, do NOT prevent you from passing it along to someone else. This is unequivocal fact, and has and is being proven everyday with fully vaxed people infecting others, and getting the virus once again themselves. Not only, case in point, many think since they're "fully protected", in their eyes they can't pass it along, when if fact, you absolutely can.

There is perhaps a misunderstanding about what vaccines do in total. No vaccine has every been totally 100% effective in preventing infection - also some like the Polio got close with about 99% after 3 or 4 shots.
However, if the vaccine is only 70% effective, only 3 out of 10 that would have been infected will be infected (if they are all vaccinated). This is good for everyone because instead of 10 people being infectious, it will be only 3. Without vaccination, the 10 will people will each infect, say, 5 people, giving 50 infected. With vaccination, the 3 infected people will only infect about 5 (3x5x0.3) people. There is a community benefit if people get vaccinated, even if the vaccine is not 100% effective.
This is where the second part of the vaccines come in. Even if the antibodies fail, the T-cells also play a part in destroying infected call and it is clear that the severity of infections is on-average reduced with vaccinated people. According to a study there was a 94% reduction in hospitalisations for infected, but vaccinated, patients. Let's be pessimistic and say 50% for ease of calculation. I don't know the exact hospitalisation rates, so let's just pick an equal number of vaccinated and unvaccinated patients that would have been hospitalised, say 100. In this case of the vaccinated patients that only be about 50 in hospital.
Forgetting the COVID patients for a minute, what does that mean to all those other people who need the hospital for other things. Staff will be pulled away from other duties and the first think to start drying up will be elective surgery and other procedures involving reduced immune responses like chemo, etc. The draw-down will be compounded because increased infection control will be needed. Best for everyone to keep hospitalisations as low as possible for everyone.
So, Bashy you can certainly feel good about what you have done.

Don't worry. My town and much of the rest of the nation discovered from 2020 that shutdowns and required mask wear did more harm to the economy and mental wellbeing than it was worth. Last summer, when the delta variant filled the ICU at the local hospital, Stillwater did not restore mask wear requirements or other restrictions. In September, OSU's McKnight Center for the Performing Arts decided to reopen for concerts after being closed since March 2020. In October, the big concert was for Tim McGraw. It was a total sellout of 1100 seats. Mask wear was not required. Only a small minority in the audience were wearing them. This even though the hospital's ICU was full several days before. 8 out of 11 patients in there for covid. After close to two years of it, I think most people have concluded there isn't too much to worry about covid, unless they are in less than good health. It's good that the current variant, Omicron, is believed not be as severe.

I just want to point out one thing, i didn't diss anyone for their beliefs, i didn't pick apart why i feel you are wrong in that belief, why? because its your life, its up to you, sadly though, its not just about you, its about your family and friends and their family and friends and so on.
As for lockdowns, they play a VERY important role on 2 fronts, 1, they reduce the strain on the emergency services and health care systems and 2, they reduce the spread tenfold, but then that only works if people follow them, same with the masks, they are not there to hide the ugly people, they reduce the spread, and whilst i misspoke re not killing 1 person, that was actually with regards to following the guidelines, masks, 2 meters apart and so on.
If i can help reduce the strain on the systems, that's what i will do, it might just save Joe Blog's grandmother, or Mrs Jones's baby down the road, is that really a bad thing?

Have any of you lost your best friends to this ? I HAVE ! One was before the vaccine and one was way after. Both didn't believe in it. Both felt wearing a mask was against their rights. Both were in very good health. Both left families without a father. Both left families with huge medical bills. Both went to the hospital and none of us got to say goodbye. No more bike rides. No more riding around in the truck and getting in a little bit of trouble. No more being teased by the wife for being a bad influence (it wasn't always my idea). While everyone whines about masks and jabs and government crap, they probably don't know the pain of loosing a family member or a best buddy... and I hope they don't have to. I am vaxed, boosted and masked because I want to improve my chances of having one more day. I would give anything to get my usual phone call wanting to know if I wanted to run into town for some stuff then go have a couple of beers after... Gotta go... Having trouble seeing the keyboard...

The saddest part, so much could be prevented. My wife's school age friend's dad will likely not make it post heart valve replacement as he was so weak from waiting so long with hospitals filled with Covid patients.
The "Anti" crowd often says 'Look, all you masks etc. have not worked' The problem is, there is such poor adherence, we have no way of knowing how well those things may have may have worked.

My hearing has degraded to the point of needing attention and so I got a hearing test and no surprise, I've lost higher frequencies. The choice of hearing aids then became the problem. I was looking at several different ones with varying options and liked the idea of one with blue tooth and setting adjustable with an iPhone. You can program it for different scenarios, busy restaurant, quiet home etc and they have AI to continually adjust, but the one thing that really jumped out was a specific setting for communicating with people wearing masks and yes, there are still a few places, my eyeglass place, my Doc etc. that are stuck on political obedience. That feature was a huge selling point. So, after the first of the year I'll invest.
You know from a high level it is interesting that TX/FL seem to have far less problems than some other places. Maybe those other places are doing something wrong? - just saying.

My best friend was one of the first Delta-wave victims. He refused to carry health insurance, believed that the medical profession was a scam, and insisted that COVID was just a cold that could be cured/prevented with lots of vitamins. All of his medications came from Tractor Supply and pet stores. Sound familiar? While waiting for medical transport to arrive when he finally agreed to be treated, he sprawled out on his driveway to soak in the sun as his last try at a self-cure. He was too far gone by the time he reached the local hospital, and died in flight while being airlifted to the regional trauma center a few days later. He called every single person that he knew from the hospital before they intubated him, saying his goodbyes. He *didn't* call me though, probably because he didn't want to hear me tell him that I told him so. :-(
I also lost two very dear racing buddies to COVID. Knew both of their families on a first-name basis, and watched their kids grow up.
Needless to say, I am jabbed and boosted as my best effort to prevent my family from enduring that loss grief/suffering.....

No I don't. What i have done is read real virology and epidemiology research and reports. I don't listen to those who went to social media medical school. Also I have a nephew who is a virologist working in a Covid ward and a neice who is a icu/trama specialist who spends time in the Covid ward of her hospital. Their dad is a retired oncologist who has participated in HIV research. We have talked on the phone many times. In my nephew's hospital everyone on an ECMO (heart lung machine) and ventilator is dying or about to die is unvaccinated. He has had a couple that had medical conditions (overweight/diabetic/etc) that if they weren't vaccinated would have died. I getting real medical info directly from experts with real experience. I understand about how the virus is mutating to evade the body's defenses. The new treatments are targeting the replication enzyme. An improvement to the vaccine is coming that targets more of the receptor spike proteins. So believe what you want. I don't care anymore. I choose life for me. If you want to play Russian roulette with your life...go for it. First..read...learn the truth.

Dr. Malone is a respected researcher and just because he has appeared on Fox news does not diminish this. He has a valid point of view and as such deserves to be heard. If social media censors his views then he has the right to find a platform to express those views. At this point in time who is to say what view is correct. So many things have changed from a year ago. I believe that there is an ongoing process to keep anyone with a viewpoint that is not in agreement with the government will have diminished access to forums to express their views in order to not corrupt the “official” narrative. The CDC has been wrong before with disastrous results, remember Thalidomide? Let me have the ability to access all information, consult with my healthcare providers and not have them restricted to what care and medicines that they can provide. Government rationing healthcare by controlling distribution or restricting off label use of certain medications under the guise of lack of supply is unconscionable. In my case I have elected to be “UP TO DATE” (new government definition) because of my personal situation.

Conservative or liberal there aren’t any more “unbiased” news sources. They all are talking heads waiting to throw out the “gotcha” zinger. It’s all about ratings. The more sensational, ludicrous, or distorted the better. There are valid points of view on both sides. It doesn’t mean you must totally agree with those points. Sources quoting “facts” are their “facts”. Read all sides, form your own opinion. There is no truth except your own truth. Censoring ideas and views does nothing but limit your ability to make informed decisions. Some "conspiracy" theories that were thought ridiculous a year ago have gained credibility. Be open to changes in viewpoints through your own research. Everyone is entitled to their point of view and shaming them for it is small minded.

Back in the 80's, probably before, I read an article by one of the prominent talking heads of the time and he was decrying the loss of journalism primarily due to the news rooms of the TV networks etc being converted from purely news reporting, or journalism to profit centers. When that trend happened it created cable news outlets etc that were profit oriented, they had to "sell" to survive. As I said that was long ago and today we can see the result of that trend, actual journalism and "news" have mostly disappeared, now it's all opinion. There are still a few sources I trust, but only a select few. And then look at yesterdays SCOTUS hearing, several of the justices were totally misinformed and didn't seem to actually have ever read the Constitution. While the loss of journalism is a problem, having members of the highest court dictating to us based on hearsay opinion very directly impacts our daily lives.

The 'news' is generally the 'news'. A plane crashed, snow fell, an earthquake was recorded, there was a fire. The problem comes in with the talking heads that come on after the 'news' segments. They are the ones being quoted above as fact, when in fact, they are the farthest from the facts. Even their own lawyers are on record in court documents stating that no one should believe them.

I assume your post was meant to be satirical, but not everyone has the same sense of humour so humour needs to be pre-advertised as such.
If it wasn't humour. I don't have any doubt that masks help against air-borne diseases, or that the COVID vaccines work (although like most things, not perfectly); and I think that people who believe the fanciful COVID conspiracy tales to the contrary are probably just total morons, BUT if we were to ban anyone from medical attention because they made a bad/different choices, then most people in car accidents would be denied treatment, anyone who carried a couple of extra kilos would be turned away. In fact, it is unlikely anyone would be eligible for treatment if not making any bad life-style choices was a condition of treatment.
I have no problem seeing people thrown in the slammer for breaking health laws, or avoided because others think they represent a danger to them or their families by their inaction, but is quite another thing to deny treatment to a sick person, especially when they might die. History has shown us what happens when people become convinced that some other group of people are of lesser worth - and it is always ends up ugly.

2. Get the vaccine and stay at home, trying to enjoy something cooked in the microwave and ordering your groceries online to be picked up or delivered, trusting that the kid doing the shopping knows enough not to put in bad produce in your sack.
3. Just wear the mask and hope for the best.
4. Neither get the vaccine or the mask, but do go to the local school board and give the finger (done on tape at the Ankeny, Iowa school board meeting in November) to everyone because the majority think your kid should wear a mask.
5. Neither get the vaccine or the mask, go everywhere and anywhere , stating " I will not be bullied into getting the vaccine or wear a hoax mask) as my dear friend and her husband said in December 2021. As a side note, She has covid, he is in the hospital since Dec 23, on a ventilator , failing kidneys and on dialysis, had his heart restarted twice.

I have 5 test kits sitting over by the security camera DVR. i have 50 N95 masks NIOS approved over on the desk (made in the USA and on the list that the CDC approves). And I still am staying at home as much as I can. Going to the doctor is an outing . I did go through the drive through at Jimmy John's (#2 with pickles). I hope that I stay well. Now if I don't I know that I have done everything possible to stay well.
Should I get the blasted virus with whatever variant, I can go to the hospital. Yeah, I have pre-existing conditions, anemia, asthma, diabetes type 2, high blood pressure and a Davis weather station from 2006. I really do not want an endotracheael tube down my larynx. I have inserted my share of those in folks who really needed them and I tell you what, Don't give mouth to mouth for someone who just ate a bowl of chili, have your partner do it.
So am I being sarcastic, yeah while the rest of you folks are being the opposite of it.
