Title: WeatherCloud device "Unlinked"
Post by: rcnz on November 28, 2021, 06:10:49 PM
Pi 4 32 GB, Meteo-Pi;  Vantage Pro2

WC ran perfectly in WeeWX 3.9.2 (Logger was WFL)

Recently upgraded to 4.5.1; changed from WFL to Meteo-Pi

Removed WeeWX, Python 2 (reinstalled Python 3); reinstalled WeeWX via setup.py

Reinstated weewx.conf site outputs via pastes from previous weewx.conf

WU came straight up, RF fine.

Debug = 2,

Got CWOP, PWS Weather, AWEKAS, Windy, WOW all going.

Debug = 1,

WC showed previous Device now as "Unlinked". (Has never been seen in syslog, any WeeWX version AFAIK)

Deleted WC Device
Created new WC Device

Download last extension file (weewx-wcloud-0.11.tgz)

Run the extension installer as follows:

wee_extension --install weewx-wcloud-x.y.tgz

wee_extension --install /home/pi/Downloads/weewx-wcloud-0.11.tgz

pi@wxpi4:/home/weewx/bin $ wee_extension --install /home/pi/Downloads/weewx-wcloud-0.11.tgz
Request to install '/home/pi/Downloads/weewx-wcloud-0.11.tgz'
Extracting from tar archive /home/pi/Downloads/weewx-wcloud-0.11.tgz
Saving installer file to /home/weewx/bin/user/installer/wcloud
Saved configuration dictionary. Backup copy at /home/weewx/weewx.conf.20211128123237
Finished installing extension '/home/pi/Downloads/weewx-wcloud-0.11.tgz'

pi@wxpi4:/home/weewx/bin $ sudo /etc/init.d/weewx restart
[ ok ] Restarting weewx (via systemctl): weewx.service.

Several restarts, with zero debug ERROR or CRITICAL syslog messages; typical 30-minutes' syslog entries attached. (N.B.: Multiple WU RF lines deleted to save space)

Thanks for any clues!

Robin..

1. need the syslog with debug = 1 in weewx.conf over two archiving cycles including the startup
2. try to enter enable = true before the credentials in the [[WeatherCloud]] section in weewx.conf
3. I'd expect to see a service under restful_services = weewx.restx.StdWU, ......, weewx.restx.Stdwcloud (or similar) in the [Engine] [[Services]] section,
but there isn't ...
do a step by step approach:
a. change weewx.conf like in 1. and 2. and restart weewx and provide the syslog as mentioned in 1.
b. repeat the installation process and provide the syslog again as under 1.
use https://github.com/matthewwall/weewx-wcloud
(the link at weathercloud.net/info/weewx redirects to the wiki home - and there the link is shown as above)

Outstanding!

Thanks, Gyvate: I went through your steps one at a time.

At first, no joy, then 3b - ran the install again: bingo!

In other weewx.conf edits, I simply wrote out the change, then restarted WeeWX - all good.

With WeatherCloud running, and I do that, I get red warning [File on disk has changed]. If I accept change, sometimes WC data aren't posted. re-running the install fixes that every time.

Thanks again!

(Cheeky ask): In WeeWX 3.9.2. I'm sure I got data to the Weatherlink site, but I don't have all my files from then. Any ideas?

Sorry, no experience with Weatherlink - somebody else from the Davis ecosystem might help out or have ideas
