Title: Mesonet issues
Post by: 92merc on November 26, 2014, 09:39:38 AM
I'm still on V14 P65.  I plan on upgrading probably this Thanksgiving weekend when I switch to a new Win8.1 PC.

But I have an issue that has popped up in the past week.  I'm guessing it's Wunderground again.  But for certain cities I have data downloading for my Mesomap, it'll show an extra square behind the main one.

Looking at the actual Mesodata downloaded, I can see for some cities there is a blank entry with 12/31 as the date, and 18:00 for the time.  All the data are zero.

It's causing the extra square on my map.  Luckily, the actual temp is on top.  But there is a small square peeking out the back, so it's not as easy to read.

Anyone else seeing this?  Is this a V14 issue or Wunderground?   Would like to figure that out before my upgrade so I don't compound the issues.

I think those extra blank spaces are being caused by stations that are down or have not reported data in the past few hours. I know weather underground automatically removes stations from the lists when they have not been reporting current data for a certain amount of time.

I decided I probably should upgrade to V15 before I swap out to my new Win8.1 PC.  Just did the upgrade.  Only hitch I ran into was that I didn't know that the forecast downloaded from Wunderground went from 3 cities down to just one.  Not much I can do about that, so I adapt.

I recently added some HTML 5 code point to some audio files from the NWS.  So the extra space I gained by removing two cities from my forecast, I moved my audio players to a new location.

Other than that, upgrading to V15 P03 was painless.  Now to give it a couple of days before I put everything on my new PC.

Forgot to mention, with the V15 upgrade, my map is now looking right again.  I'm still getting the "blank" cities in the Mesonet area.  But V15 isn't showing them on the map.  So the upgrade did fix what ever was going on.
