This is my first post on here so sorry about any confusion. I was looking in the about section on my ambient ws2000 console and i realized my hardware revision number says V2.0 and everything ive seen on other ambient ws2000 consoles it says 1.0. My firmware revision number says Pro_V1.8.1 and on the ambient website it shows the newest version as 1.7.6 so don't know how that's possible. Lastly my WIFI firmware says AMBWeather Pro_V5.0.6 which shouldn't it be around 4.3.3? Just asking these questions because i'm genuinely confused as to why all my firmware is different from what is shown on other peoples ambient ws 2000's.

My second question is on my weather stations dashboard on ambient weather my 10 minute wind speed average doesn't show. it shows 10 minute average direction but not the speed average (the 10 minute wind speed average does show on the console) Any help is appreciated!

Good questions, and I don't have an answer for you. My WS-2000 is a year and a half old, and is has the 4.3.3 and 1.7.6 firmware versions for wi-fi and console. These are also the current releases according Gyvate's "Must Read" thread on Ambient/Fine Offset clones. I don't know where to look for my hardware revision, but mine is probably 1.0 due to its age.

Let us know if you find the answers to these questions.

I think you are confusing firmwares - our MUST READ thread https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=40730.0 could have given you a clue  8-)
there are two hardware revisions of the Ecowitt HP2550 console (which Ambient sells as the WS-2000/WS-5000 console [same thing, only different marketing names inside Ambient] and with a modifed device firmware to make Ambient consoles only read Ambient branded sensors)- and the main difference between the hardware revisions is a different WLAN modem ("WiFi").
The new WiFi-modem needs a different firmware and is called EasyWeather Pro (Ambient Version: AMBWeather Pro), but the versions are the same 5.x.y - it contains Ambient modifications as Ambient consoles post to ambientweather.net and use a special data format: the so-called Ambient protocol)

You obviously have the new console hardware revision hence the different WiFi firmware names (and obviously it has already a higher device firmware version coming directly from the manufacturer [Ecowitt/Fine Offset] than Ambient offers for the older hardware revision). But on that level they are compatible. And old hardware WS-2000/WS-5000 has the same device firmware as the new one. Ambient simply don't offer the newer version(s) yet on their website yet.

So nothing to worry about.

As for the hardware version: it says V. 2.0 for both (old and new) revisons  ](*,)

Thank you so much for clearing this up! I was able to upgrade the WIFI version through the WSView Plus app to 5.1.1 (which ambient support told me to use the awnet app) and i should upgrade the firmware through ecowitt.net to 1.8.7 correct?

only if you have your WS-2000 post to Wunderground, there could be an issue with AMBWeatherPro > 5.0.7
you have to check if you can still do this in the 1.8.1/AMBWeatherPro 5.1.1 combination (provided you want to post to WU) - if not, then 1.8.6 may be interesting (1.8.7 is only relevant for European Ecowitt clone (GARNI) users).

Otherwise I would leave it with 1.8.1 and wait what Ambient will come up with - in the near future some 1.9.x version will be released.
For a WS-2000 station (= EW HP2551 + WH65 array) there won't be any added value => if not needed (see above, WU), stay with what works  8-).

1.8.5 and 1.8.6 have mainly to do with the WS90 array which is currently not sold by Ambient.

I did upgrade the WIFI version to 5.1.1 and everything still works. It actually added event total rainfall to the dashboard on ambientweather.net so that's pretty cool. I will keep the firmware at 1.8.1 for now.

This forum is awesome and has helped so much more than the support team of ambient. Thank you so much!

The Ambient support team is not that bad from what we hear - but here you happen to find a few SMEs (special matter experts) whose knowledge goes rather far beyond the average Ambient support team member. I think some of them read our threads here.  8-) - which is smart thing for them to do.

At least a couple of years ago a lead person from Ambient visited our forum regularly and exchanged experience - but ever since this person changed either position or employer, it has become rather average over there (what for many user issues is good enough).

We could say that we do here some sort of second level support - and if we don't know what to do/say any more, we still have Ecowitt (the manufacturer) on the backburner to consult.
Yes, it's a great community here.  [tup]

Since its been confirmed that the firmware is identical for Ecowitt and ambient newer ws2000 consoles can i go ahead and download firmware version 1.9.0 off of ecowitt? And if so, can i jump from 1.8.1 right to 1.9.0? Seems i was the first person to realize the newer firmware changes on the new consoles for ambient and on ambient website it still has version 1.7.6 as their latest. Thanks in advance!

Why do that, we assume there is no difference, but, as it is available, for what reason do you want to download it from Ecowitt  when it available from Ambient?. I'm just saying this as we do not want to foster a behavior where some may just download from Ecowitt when they have an Ambient unit.

I believe you can jump to the version, but , after the install, check your settings, as some may have changed

Just get it from the Ambient site

Edit:
Also, Ambient messed up their download page, so the current link to the latest , is at the bottom. Not the top as one would expect. Scroll to the end, and look the dates. Yeah, I don't have anything to do with that (or anything actually)
, don't shoot the messenger, and someone edited the page contrary to how it has been in the past. So now the latest is at the bottom.

Ambient mentions device firmware 1.9.0 on their firmware support page for the WS-2000/WS-5000 consoles
last time I saw it, it was hidden, out of sequence, at the very bottom instead of on the top of the page

so you can use either one ....
