Title: Red Tide air particle detection

Those of us living around the Florida and the Gulf of Mexico are increasingly affected by aerosolized red tide particles when surf is up and wind blowing. Such particles can cause a lot of respiratory distress.

I've been scrounging around to see if anyone has experience with detectors which might respond to such particles but can see nothing so far. Florida has an experimental model for predicting such events here https://habscope.gcoos.org/forecasts (https://habscope.gcoos.org/forecasts) and I've been trying to work out what size particles are involved and making little progress. Anyone have any pointers or suggestions?

That's pretty interesting stuff, many thanks. It does sound as if the gear to detect aerosolized KB is beyond my wallet and pay grade but I think I will consult with the local marine lab to see what they think.
