Title: Time lapses in Lossatal, Germany
Post by: andrewjwhall on July 05, 2022, 05:08:04 AM
Hello to The Forum!

With regard to some earlier posts I put up a while back, (the links in the earlier posts no longer work. I have edited the posts to make members aware of this!).

Part quote from earlier post:

#######
For some years now I have been taking photos of the weather with a passion for clouds and there formations.

Please note I am not a professional at taking photos or the following time lapses!

About a year a ago I got into recording time lapses using a GoPro Hero 7. I became so interested in recording cloud formations and their flow that the camera was out nearly everyday from March 2020 onwards. Some of the time lapses are often 12 hours long (using a battery pack). It was a real treat to sit down at the end of each week and watch back what had been happening in the skies above where I live! I now have over 120 time lapses to date!

Its was with this in mind that I wanted to share my interests with like minded people who share the same sort of interests as me, the weather!

The videos are by no means professionally made. I have just done basic checks to the recordings and that's it.
#######

I have now got myself a bit more organised, with some slight changes to the video presentation!
The most important is I have now started putting the videos up on YouTube, which is more about convenience for others to view, like and share.

You can find all the latest videos, mostly from 2020 so far with the exception of a time lapse done on the longest day this year from sunrise to sunset, at the following link:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmwZjEYbK2KWW47sONWdPMA/videos (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmwZjEYbK2KWW47sONWdPMA/videos)

or just search online with #andrewjwhall

Your constructive thoughts and comments are most welcomed!

Most Kindest Regards,

Andrew J.W. Hall

Just curious why your time lapses are 2 years old.
Title: Re: Time lapses in Lossatal, Germany

Hi Ocala!

That's a good question!

I started making the time lapses back in March 2020. The main reason was for my own interest in studying cloud formation and movement.
I never really intended to share the time lapses publicly. I was so amazed by what I was capturing that after a lot of thought I decided to share them for people to enjoy as well. It just took me a while to get there, this is the reason for the 2 year gap!

I am planning to do some up-to-date "special" time lapses, like the Longest Day I did back in June, so I am investigating places where I can site my camera safely to capture them.  I am still collecting time lapses which are current but I wanted to put up the earlier ones as I feel in time that they might be of value as an historical record of the sky's were I live and of interest to other cloud lovers!

Hope that explains the delay and I do hope you enjoy watching them!
Thank you for the interest and question.

Most Kindest Regards,
Andrew
