Dark Sky Forecasts
« on: June 15, 2022, 09:22:29 AM »
Not sure what this will mean for the AcuRite displays that get their forecast data from Dark Sky. But the Dark Sky API will only function until March 31st, 2023.

Update: As previously announced, the Dark Sky iOS app will no longer be available beginning on December 31st, 2022 and, as of this date, already purchased versions of the app will no longer provide weather data. The Dark Sky API and website will continue to function until March 31st, 2023.

EDIT
Forgot to mention that the MyAcurite App and website get forecasts from Dark Sky too.

I noticed Dark Sky frcst is officially gone and now my frcst icons in my pws do not work. What is an alternative to dark sky I can use?

For the PWS Dashboard see, e.g., https://discourse.weather-watch.com/t/darksky-users-help-me-test-your-replacement-scripts/71027

These scripts, and the replacement easyweathersetup, are now in the standard dashboard update downloads.

What is an alternative to dark sky I can use?

You could also choose from the existing alternatives in easyweathersetup: Weather Underground, Aeris. . .

I updated my scripts, but my page isn't loading properly now. Seems only part of the page is displayed and I can't open the easyweathersetup

Errors  https://www.weather911.net/pwsWD/_test.php  caused by old Darksky settings.

I grabbed an openweathermap API and will see if that works, thanks.

How come under the Data tabs "which forecast to use" has different options then under the Dark Sky alternatives in the API tab?

How come under the Data tabs "which forecast to use" has different options then under the Dark Sky alternatives in the API tab?

The current solution:
Data tabs: The DarkSky Forecast scripts are still the same as before. They expect forecast data in the original DarkSky format.

API tab: As the original DarkSky does not work anymore you have to select another provider of "compatible with DarkSky" data
Either OpenWeatherMap, VirtualCrossing or PirateWeather
The load data scripts convert the data from the selected one into the original format for the DarkSky scripts.

In your case you selected on the data tab "WeatherUnderground" for your forecast
Then you should set the contents "Darksky and alternatives after March 31, 2023"
=> "Select which alternative . . ." to "Not used"
=> and empty the field labeled "API Key for forecast . . . "

Succes,
Wim
