Vantage Vue Intermittent No Wind Readings
« on: December 01, 2019, 08:39:56 PM »
Hi,

I've had a Vantage Vue for almost 6 years. I'm experiencing issues with wind speed. It seems to be reading slower than what the wind speeds actually are or just 0kph despite the anemometer rotating. I took the wind speed cartridge out but didn't notice anything wrong. I took the station down and took off the cups and placed back on and made sure the set screw was set properly. I also changed the channel on the console and the ISS. I was going to order a new wind speed cartridge. I was wondering if it is likely the cartridge. Thoughts?

Thanks!

I believe the cartridge is just the spindle with bearings. Unless the bearings or spindle are seizing up or wearing, I doubt wind speed would be affected.
The important parts are the magnet at the inside end of the spindle and the sensor below that reads the rotational speed. First thing I would check is that the magnet is firmly attached to the end of spindle and there is no undue movement of the spindle ( up and down or side to side)

Just realised this post is over a year old. Did you fix it?
