Papillon Helicopter - Grand Canyon
« on: July 01, 2020, 12:03:51 PM »
I know that this installation is a bit outside of most backyard applications, but it might be of interest to some users.

Papillon (pappy-yawn) is one of two helicopter companies that have Dyacon weather stations down in the bottom of the Grand Canyon. While this application may seem a bit esoteric, the weather stations are relatively easy to use. The embedded cell phone allows for the stations to operate over a wide range, without concern for line-of-site to an indoor receiver. (A WiFi option is also available.)

That seems like a very high humidity, even near the Colorado river.

Normally, users perform their own service. In this case, I was asked to upgrade the phones and antennas on both weather stations. So, that lead to a couple of flights squeezed between tourists more interested in selfies than enjoying the experience.
