DP2 anemometer only reading 0 to 2mph

We have had 2 days of rain and now my anemometer is only reading 0 to 2mph when I know we are having 20mph winds.
Could it be that I have 4 joins in the cable to the vp2 pub. 
Is there anyway of identifying if its a break in the cable or the anemometer is faulty?
Was going to buy another cable extender and then just have 1 join.

I know the wiring is right. Just thought as I have several joins in it. This is the 3 anemometer I've replaced in the last 10 years if it is gone wrong. And I'm not in an exposed place.

What's the chance of moisture getting into these "several joins". That would be my first thing to eliminate

I've ordered a replacement cable. Will only have one join then. Hopefully that will solve it. Thanks all
