Alexa skill

(1/1)

weatheroz:
Now I'm sucked in to using Alexa, I was hoping some one has found a way of getting weather data on to their Alexa ?

I was hoping someone had written something that could go to your website and grabbed the current temperature and conditions from say a clientrawdata.txt file.

Perhaps even something that grabbed data from a Weather Underground of your site.

I look at our Alexa's here and see discrepancies of the data from what we actually have versus the 'best guess' based upon data that could be 20+kilometres away from here.

Two ways I know...

- Davis stations that upload to Weatherlink.com can add Alexa skill.

- Any station that uploads to Ambientweather.net can add Alexa skill. Ambientweather.net is not limited to only Ambient stations. If you have a Meteobridge, and you add the Ambientweather.net license, then any Meteobridge compatible station can upload to Ambientweather.net, thereby gaining the Alexa skill. My favorite Meteobridge at the moment is the Raspberry Pi version, because of ease to set up, cost, and performance and features.

The Weatherlink option I heard was only available to the USA only.

Ambientweather, never tried that, always thought it was a VWS thing.  I'll look in to that thanks.

galfert:
Not sure about Weatherlink.com Alexa option being only available in USA. I'll let others weigh in on that.

VWS was discontinued in favor of investing in the development of Ambientweather.net. It was driven by the whole software as a service and cloud services as we have seen in the last decade with all things. VWS never gained the ability to upload to Ambientweather.net.

Here is the link to the applicable Ambientweather.net license:

Thanks for the link, but $US100 is a bit rich just to get my own weatherstation data to my alexa devices.
