Title: USB/IPWiFi loggers, temperature increase, a possible workaround
Post by: SLOweather on June 12, 2018, 02:37:28 PM
First, I think Davis is a victim of their aging design. When the VP and VP2 came out, I believe that the only logger available logger was the serial one, which doesn't seem to have a heating problem.

Now then, I have a stash of the 20 pin connectors from my serial board project. It occurred to me that, 4 or 5 of these could be stacked to extend a logger out of the back of the console (modifying the battery door or leaving it off).

I haven't tested this yet, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Also, for anyone with a reasonably recent wireless Envoy (which won't be many users I know) then you can of course connect an external temperature sensor. Never tried it but I suspect that a T/H sensor might work too.
