Monitor II cable question
« on: August 01, 2022, 07:20:07 AM »
I was recently gifted with the Davis monitor II that is complete except for the 8' cable that connects between the junction box and the console. The sockets appear to be standard CAT5 type so I tried a short piece but there was no joy. Neither the wind direction nor speed worked at all....

Am I mistaken that it should have worked? Is there something special about the original cable?

Thanks

From memory, the WMII was an 8-conductor ribbon cable wired straight-through. I suspect that a regular patch cable may differ somehow.

The plugs are standard RJ45 (8P8C), nothing really special re the original cable, simply uses flat 8 core modular telephone cable pinned same both ends
