Current Conditions
« on: March 06, 2020, 06:33:27 AM »
For those of you still slugging along with VWS as I am, I would like to know how you are downloading current conditions for your area?  NOAA and WU haven't worked on VWS for quite some time now and I have been using Hamweather.  Until recently, I have been getting the most recent conditions that the nearest Metar station reported by 15 or 20 past the hour.  After a recent server issue involving Hamweather I don't see an update until nearly an hour later so my "current" conditions are an hour old!

(Example:  KSNA reported at 2:53 a.m.  Using Hamweather I will see that report downloaded anywhere from at 3:35 to 4:00 a.m.).

Is there a stand alone program that can be used to get the sky, weather, visibility and cloud height for my location that can be integrated into my archaic html website?

I believe you can switch between the Hamweather source and from NWS. That's what I do in my VWS setup....
