So, with such a high percentage of ice cover on the lakes, does this mean the normal "lake effect" snow will be diminished?  It seems to me that without the warmer open waters, there would be less snow-fall in the region down-wind and thus, less snow-fall overall. Isn't someone on this forum studying this effect?

Love watching how people uneducated seem to think that cold weather negates the 'global warming' theory.

Guess what people.  'Global' warming doesn't equal 'United States' warming.

That's a really good question and I have to agree with your summation, but I've been wrong before.

One (or more) of the various news articles I read discussed that.  I've also read discussion that it helps lake levels rise by reducing evaporation.

On the Marine forecast on NOAA weather radio, they are saying "wave height omitted due to ice coverage" on almost all the lake forecasts now.

You doth protest too much...

I wasn't specifically speaking of you.  Just the climate change deniers in general.

9136-1 is the figure to contemplate here.

So, do you hold a degree in climate science?   ;)

Read the comments to understand how flimsy this 9136-1 metric is.

These days a degree in many things just indicates prolonged exposure to academic fluff with a willingness to make a career out of proselytizing others to one's beliefs, often in order to suck at the teat of government.  The winners of this game appear to be those who can line up the most supporters for their opinion, not those whose science is reliable, repeatable, and valid.  Bear in mind that history is littered with the 'broken bones' of opinions, even near universal ones, that were crushed by real science and/or the course of events.

Absolute proof that we need to pour another $50 trillion into something that has been going on since the dawn of Earth's existence.
