I run the radar animations similar to yours. How do you get the images to your site for upload?

Edit: I see you answered in the above post but I still don't quite get it....drop down a level or two and maybe, and I mean maybe, I'll understand   :oops:

Steve,

I think I'll also need a little more help on this.  I would like to use FLANIS.  Help on that also, please.

I don't know... did you vote for me???  :grin: ?  Just kidding!!!

 :lol:

This is where the images come from http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/data/us_comp/image0.jpg and it runs through image7.jpg. If you already have a script that rotates images you can use that. If not, we'll have to get you setup to run Flanis.

Jay:

I like so much about Steve's site that I feared that if I were to start asking him how he did this, that, and the other thing, I might as well just ask him, "Steve, would you please just make my site look like yours?" ;)

Kevin,

I have my own site and liked the way the satellite was projected on Steve's site.  Besides, isn't this the way we learn so we can incorporate as we wish?

Jay:

Please don't misunderstand me. I'm sorry if I offended your or if I sounded sarcastic or mean. I truly was merely speaking for myself. I agree with you on all counts. And I love so many things about Steve's site. Not that long ago I pm'd Steve and asked if he was a programmer or software developer by vocation, and I was surprised that he isn't.

I'm also going to be watching this thread to see if I can incorporate Steve's script (or whatever else he provides) into my site. :grin:

Take care!

Regards,

Kevin...

Let me figure the best way to approach this, I use two methods (actually more but...) for most of my animations, I'm going to give you the easiest first. This is also what I use to rotate/fade my banner, do computer model animations, and the maps on the opening page.

First, download this and read the directions. It's very simple to install. I'll give you specifics once you do.

The Flanis loop is a little more complicated but not bad.

Steve,

I've been working on the Flanis loop and have gotten it to work.  The cron job is running every 5 minutes.  Is this too often?

I am working on getting the Flanis loop to go into the template set now.  Might take a couple of minutes to do that.

I run this script from a cron job:
One quick question, I am on e-rice so I can't run cron jobs. Think I can use the php script you posted by renaming, uploading to root, and use Windows Task Scheduler to run the script. My question is will I need to create a folder for the script to place the images in and how do I direct the script to place the images there?

As always, thanks for all the help, Doug

For that first script, you can place those images in whatever folder you want on your server. The way the file location is specified is in the script. For example, my banners setup looks like this:

<script type="text/javascript" src="Library/fadeslideshow.js">

/***********************************************

* Ultimate Fade In Slideshow v2.0- (c) Dynamic Drive DHTML code library (www.dynamicdrive.com)

* This notice MUST stay intact for legal use

* Visit Dynamic Drive at http://www.dynamicdrive.com/ for this script and 100s more

***********************************************/

</script>

<script type="text/javascript">

var mygallery=new fadeSlideShow({

wrapperid: "fadeshowban", //ID of blank DIV on page to house Slideshow

dimensions: [900, 74], //width/height of gallery in pixels. Should reflect dimensions of largest image

imagearray: [

["/images/banner/1.jpg", "http://www.daculaweather.com/", "", ""],

["/images/banner/2.jpg", "http://www.daculaweather.com/", "", ""],

],

displaymode: {type:'auto', pause:7000, cycles:0, wraparound:false, randomize:true},

persist: true, //remember last viewed slide and recall within same session?

fadeduration: 600, //transition duration (milliseconds)

descreveal: "ondemand",

togglerid: ""

})

</script>

<!-- #EndLibraryItem --><div id="fadeshowban"></div>

It displays the images in the "fadeshowban" div or whatever div you want to display them in.

Guys... I stepped over my bounds here. My apologies to Danny at ElDoradoWeather. Danny has helped me with scripts and I forget which script is which sometimes, there was some code I should not have shared. Very, very sorry for any inconvenience to anyone involved.

Any questions about the FadeShow script I can answer.

Once again, my apologies to Danny.  :oops:

If you want to skip all the fun of setting up and running a script, NOAA has basically the same thing available:
http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/ecir.html
Used on the bottom of this page: http://www.cavecountryweather.com/radar.php
Using this:
Code: [Select]
<applet codebase="http://www.goes.noaa.gov/applet" archive="aniscode.jar" code="AniS.class" width="700" height="580"><param name="controls" value="startstop, looprock, step, speed, toggle, zoom, firstlast, refresh" />
<param name="auto_refresh" value="30" />
<param name="rate" value="80" />
<param name="pause_percent" value="800" />
<param name="no_enh" value="true" />
<param name="use_IP" value="true" />
<param name="filenames" value="http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/ecir/1.jpg, http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/ecir/2.jpg, http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/ecir/3.jpg, http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/ecir/4.jpg, http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/ecir/5.jpg, http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/ecir/6.jpg, http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/ecir/7.jpg, http://www.goes.noaa.gov/GSSLOOPS/ecir/8.jpg" />

Bunty,

Very nicely done!

Is your code 'borrowable'? If so, aside from the thanks-to link to your site, is there compliments of info that should be posted for the map?

Thanks.

Bunty,

Put up a test page using a snip from your site (not live until you say OK), but have one problem. All my sub-menus from the left column nav bar go under the main graphic. Makes it a bit tough to select things.

Thoughts appreciated.

Try changing the coding so it reads this:  <center><div id="fadeshow1"></div></center>
