microsSD inside machine
« on: June 09, 2020, 09:43:09 AM »
Well today I took the microSD card out of the machine after a backup and added used on my PC
then I put the SD card back into the console and it went right inside the machine !!!!!!
So i think that the socket that holds the card on a little spring has now broken !!!

Open it up. You may just have inserted crooked and it fell in.

yea,
I cannot open it up
took out the 4 screws and nothing opened or came apart!!!
Before it was on a spring mechanism , so not sure if that has broken now

Yep, I see what you mean now having photographed

Also at the same time I was talking with Nevada sales (excellent service BTW) and sending in an image of slot, I think as galfert said, I must have pushed the card into the slot by the side of the mechanism, i was sitting down and just casully replacing, NOT thinking this would be an issue, it did drop in and i spent some time looking around the machine to see where it had fallen out , picking up the console, i heard the rattle of the SD card inside !!!!!

Anyway , will know for sure tomorrow as i have orded a new microSD
But looking at the slot pretty sure thats what i have done,
Apparently the screen is mabe up of a number of parts and taking the backoff can cause issues with the screen

Image here of slot, just in case someone does the same as me

ouch.  seems like a bad design or manufacturing flaw.

yep,
got a new card and you have to be careful, slight angle with fat fingers and it will disappear into the machine.

so using a small pair of twisers to make sure lined up straight

All working OK
just have the old one on the machine , which as i dont move it about much should be OK , hopefully not near and contacts to short out

shame the back doesnt just pop off with the 4 screws

While browsing the Ambient Weather FAQs I found an article on how to open up the console unit and retrieve a lost SD card. Remembered this thread and thought it may help @etaf and anyone this happens to in the future: https://help.ambientweather.net/help/the-sd-card-fell-into-the-slot-how-do-i-retrieve-the-sd-card/
